It was an absolute pleasure to dine out at Butcher Boys. The staff was very friendly and the food outstanding.
Good food and service. Nice atmosphere. Probably not a good choice if you are vegetarian but you probably already guessed that from the name.
Amazing cool vibe restaurant with good food and great staff!!!
Portions are great but not worth it - the pork ribs and chicken was tough and lacked taste. Oxtaill also lacked taste.
Good selection of wines.
Atmosphere was satisfactory.
Never had a bad meal here. They offer great quality meat which they cook perfectly. I am extraordinarily fussy about my meat temperatures but they get it spot on every time. The sides are also very tasty.
The wine list is not bad but they could definitely do with a few more craft beers on offer.
They are pretty pricey, however, and that is why they didn't get a 5th star from me.
Wow! I had a briliant diner at Butcher Boys! The steak was very good but the beef ribs were just amazing! Straight from the bone, tender and so tasteful.
The desserts were very good as well.
Also a few good craftbeers. A plus for each restaurant
Last but not least, very good service!
We had an awesome diner at Bucher boys. The food was great and the expertise of waiter was perfect. She knew lots of things about the chefs recommendation, the different types of meat and the wines (if we remember it correctly, her name is Lee). Highly recommended!
Busy restaurant every day of the week so best to book ahead. Easy to see why it's so popular: excellent service, great steaks and good value for money (especially on the Wednesday Date Night package we were on). Highly recommended.
Had to make a decision where to eat in Umhlanga on our arrival from Jozi. In the mood for steak and seem to remember an Argentinian placeit was no more and in it's place a Butcher Boys, same outfit different guise. Service and food was great an wine list not too shabby either. If the occasion calls for it I will be back.
Simply the best steakhouse in Durban and Umhlanga. Besides the fantastic steaks and marrow bones, they do a mean tuna steak too. The service is great and the management make sure you are totally taken care of.
Great. Busy waited long for food. Enjoyable. Good food. Fillet lovely.
Nice setting, and wonderful attentive waitress. Salad was not made according to description on the nenu and had to be sent back. Steak was nicely done. Prawns were a disaster, some completely dry and overcooked, while others were practically sushi, and that's on the same plate. Very disappointed. Management not bothered to intervene. Totally unacceptable.
Vibey places with rather efficient service, the chicken salad was good, greens were fresh and crisp, with at least three types of lettuce, chicken strips were rather bland and dry, somehow helped by the sweet mayonnaise like dressing, the bacon dices were hard and tasteless and three thin slivers of avocado all finished with a grated Parmesan like cheese, however the irks is the R6 extra they charge for the chilli in vegetable oil, which was asked half way through the meal / lunch not even olive oil, it's not the value, but as a matter of principle no restaurants charges chilli on the side in 2017!!
This is pure operator / management greed for profitability!
There is no other explanations!
Stella beer on Tap were ice cold and served promptly.
Asked for the bill and the credit card machine, still arrive without the machine and have to ask again, it was not even busy this lunchtime.
Will give another chance on my next visit to Uhmlang and Durban

The ONLY good part of a meal we had at Butcher Boys in Umhlanga (picture, the beer). This lovely 500ml Darling Brewery Bone Crusher Witbier would be my meal and what a great one it was.
Sadly, Butcher Boys deserves a definite MISS. What should have been a "can't possibly screw it up" delicious Picanha was burnt on the outside to the point that the taste of burntness had ruined the whole steak, and I dunno where the pepper crust was that they had spoken of. Probably burnt to dust.
Tall Dark & Handsome had better luck with his fillet steak, which was good, but the prawns it was topped with came either overdone or still raw! 😱
We sent that back and I didn't have the heart to also send back my steak after we had already asked they redo the salad. I intended to speak to the manager after we paid so it didn't look like we were just there to score a freebie. Re: the salad, where the menu specifically indicated "Dressing on the Side" they had taken liberties and doused the salad for us. Sadly, we had ordered it specifically because it said "dressing on the side". Then we had to watch as a manager went to inspect the menu to see if we were correct. When it came back, it was mostly a pile of lettuce.
Halfway through my wrecked picanha, I couldn't force it anymore and just stuck to my beer. I did something I have literally never done in my adult life: I left half the steak uneaten and did not take it as a doggy bag. I hate food wastage but I just couldn't.
We waited for a manager to come speak to us so we could highlight the issues but they sent a junior instead and the managers just looked on, apparently uninterested. We were offered new prawns or a coffee or dessert. We declined. Shortest meal of my life. All I can say is that our waitress tried her best and was very friendly but could not save the kitchen from abysmal failure.
We paid and will never be back. I hovered at the door, hoping one of the managers would get his act together and come talk to us but no. You have been warned.
Pricey but very good value. Quality of food was superb. They maintain a standard and wouldn't do my Fillet "well done" so I changed to a chicken flatty with lemon & herb. It's was outstanding and my wife had chicken livers that were equally as good. Service was outstanding but you wouldn't expect anything less from an established of this nature.
