Interesting to hear the story of wine industry in KZN and some good wine too
Absolutely amazing Place. Travelled up to the Midlands with my girlfriend on a rainy and cold weekend and was greeted with such a wonderful warm and charming atmosphere once we entered the estate restaurant. We were seated at a cosy spot at the wine tasting bar where we had some great Midland wines and chatted to the owner for the few hours about how Abingdon came to be and how they make their delicious wines. Will definitely be coming back with more friends :)
Such a beautiful place in the Midlands for wine tasting and delicious snack platters! We had a great time in the cellar all to ourselves next to the fire!
Stunning as usual. Our favourite place to visit. Our piece of heaven.
Lovely Wine, Best Food, Great Hospitality, Awesome place! Thank you for a fine dining experience! We will see you again soon 😘
Great whites reds could aren't bad. Great food platters. Gorgeous estate and super friendly dogs. Great place for a lunch.
Love my visits to Abingdon wine estate. Food is simple but so tasty. The wine is amazingly good, but limited quantity, so they don't always have stock of everything they make. If wine is not your thing, they have beer from Clockwork Brewhouse available as well.
Great atmosphere. Limited availability of their wine
Good visit. Good wine. Average experience
Great spot, service exceptional, wine well worth the trip.
Absolutely in love with this estate! The wine tasting was well priced and highly informative! Lunch was absolutely amazing! We felt very welcomed from the get go and the atmosphere was lovely! Our waitress Noms was absolutely fantastic! She was highly attentive and very nice! The food heavenly and wine was divine! We had the Abingdon Viognier and I never wanted it to stop! Whenever I get a chance to escape to the Midlands Abingdon will definitely be the first place I go!
This might be a nice place but the lady owner was so so uncool we didn't wait to find out. And the waiters appeared terrified of their employers. We couldn't get out fast enough.
Pioneering wine estate in Durban, Kwazulu Natal, the winery is located in the Midlands and is the officially the highest winery in operation in South Africa at an altitude of 1152 meters above sea level.
The Smorthwaith are deeply driven by their passion and the wines shows it's sense of place as well as the unique growing conditions of the area.
Ian and daughter Laurie runs the wine sides of the operation with mum Jane prepares some of the most exquisite dishes in the kitchen, the pork belly is amazing.
The whole range have merits and their bottle fermented sparkling wine shows lots of character and worth seeking.
If one asked nicely, Ian may share his outstanding Nebbiolo as well.
Worth a visit and detour. #MiguelChan #SouthAfrica #Wine
Hearing the story of how Abington came about is a testament to the pioneering spirit of the owners. Great place to visit. A must see for wine lovers
Absolutely fantastic place. Great wines, wonderful hosts and exceptional food! An absolute 'must' in the Midlands!
