Lakapi Samoa (Former Samoa Rugby Union; established under the Samoa Incorporated Societies Ordinance 1952) Lakapi Samoa (formerly known as Samoa Rugby Union) is the national sport organization committed to lead and encourage rugby in Samoa. Vision of our Organization is "To inspire excellence and leadership through rugby" Mission of our Organization is "To create rugby opportunities that will ignite passion and prosperity for all Samoans" Our values; o LEADERSHIP o INTEGRITY o RESPECTo SPIRITUALITY o CULTURAL o PASSIONo DISCIPLINE o SOLIDARITY Established as The Western Samoa Rugby Football Union in 1924 and joined the World Rugby; Former International Rugby Football Board (IRFB) as the Western Samoa Rugby Football Union in 1988. With the change of the country name from Western Samoa to Samoa in 1997, the union changed its name to the Samoa Rugby Union. Then, the Union changed its name to Lakapi Samoa in November 2020. Lakapi Samoa employs more than 40 staff who are based at its Headquarters in the heart of the Samoa's Sports Complex at Tuanaimato. Responsibilities include management of our national teams (including the Manu Samoa), administration of our national competitions, and participation in international competitions including Test matches, as well as assisting with our development work in the wider community. Lakapi Samoa has direct relationships with its members, including 16 Provincial Unions that are consisting of 120 rugby clubs and in total of 5,000 active rugby players from a country total population of 200,000, 10 Super Lakapi Franchises, sponsors, partners and stakeholders such as the Government of Samoa. We are one of Samoa's Largest sports organizations with a committed team of employees in ensuring that our national sport is effectively and smoothly managed at all levels in Samoa.
