Captains Courageous started out as a dream: Wouldn’t it be great to combine personal and professional development work with sailing in the Caribbean?

Captains Courageous became a reality in 1990 when we acted upon that dream. We gathered up a crew of adventurous souls to spend some time sailing in the Caribbean, all of us with the express intention of using the experience to learn, grow and transform. It was powerful, adventurous and fun; and we decided to do more. Since then, we’ve sailed all around the eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas and Florida - with business executives honing their leadership skills, with business developers on team-building missions, with teenagers, with families, and with mixed groups of friends who came aboard as strangers. In all their variety, our crews share one thing in common: a desire to expand their experience of heart in daily life, using an awesome tropical adventure as the catalyst.

"Captains Courageous," derived from old French, means “Leaders of Heart.” The adventure is in finding heart in all of your actions, challenges, relationships, and communications, and leading from there. It’s not just about leading others, however - it starts with leading yourself, inviting your heart to guide your own experience of your own life, and employing that approach in your interactions with others. The results? Effectiveness, trustworthiness, courage, understanding, accountability, clarity, peace. The list goes on....

We offer adventures of heart in a variety of formats: live-aboard sailing adventures, combination land/sea adventures, coaching intensives, virtual coaching and webinar/teleconferences. In the near future, we will have an accredited sailing school offering certifications at multiple levels of sailing competency. We are happy to design the adventure that best suits your desires and your desired outcomes.

We are now located on the island of St. Croix, the largest of the US Virgin Islands, where we have the benefits of being part of the United States AND the benefits of being a sweet tropical Caribbean hideaway all at the same time. St. Croix is a nonstop hop away from the mainland, and we are conveniently located at a lovely marina adjoining a boutique resort hotel.

Sample Programs for Individuals:
* 7-day liveaboard sailing adventure in the US & British Virgin Islands, beginning and ending in St Thomas. Sail, snorkel, dive and explore. Enhance your collaborative skills, leadership skills and self-knowing as you learn to trust the wisdom of your heart.

* 7 days in and around St Croix. Snorkeling, sailing, kiteboarding, paddleboarding, eco-hikes and more. You’ll be based in a tropical resort hotel and learning and adventure activities coordinated from there.

* Life coaching adventure. Kick-start with 3 day on-island intensive coupled with vacation-based action learning. Follow-up with 3-6 month teleconference coaching.

* Virtual coaching by teleconference or video conference.

Sample Programs for Businesses:
* 2- to 5-day facilitated strategic planning or problem-solving adventure. We address your business issues through highly acclaimed professional facilitation, incorporating skills training as needed plus adventure learning plus applied action planning.

* 3- to 5-day liveaboard sailing adventure with focused teambuilding and/or leadership skills facilitation and activities.

* Executive coaching adventure. Kick-start with 3 day on-island intensive coupled with vacation-based action learning. Follow-up with 3-6 month teleconference coaching.
