Here at Advantour, we're always excited to start introducing new places. Altai Krai is in southern Siberia, right on the border with Kazakhstan. There's lots of beautiful mountain scenery, and a close spiritual connection with Central Asia. As much as we love the places that we offer tours to, we also want to bring you new pictures and posts from new places. So enjoy a couple posts from Siberia, and learn a little something new about Altai Krai!

Whether you are fasting for Ramadan or not, Uzbekistan is still a welcoming and accommodating place to travel. Meals can be organized for those who are keeping the fast, and there are still plenty of options open for those who aren't. If you have special requests or concerns regarding fasting or food in general, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to provide options.

"If you want to experience Uzbekistan without having to worry about language, taxis, police inspections, or anything like that, consider traveling with Advantour. This isn’t a paid endorsement (nothing on my blog is) – I just was so happy with the tour we went on that I want to recommend them since they’re a great way to explore this part of the world worry-free."
A trip to Tashkent doesn’t really count if you haven’t explored the Metro, the oldest subway system in Central Asia.
DID YOU KNOW
The Tashkent Metro first opened in 1977, and with 9 stations, it was the first metro in Central Asia. The stations were designed for the seismic conditions of the region, and can also be used as bomb shelters.
Today, there are 29 stations on three different lines, covering a total of 36 kilometers. Construction on the Tashkent Metro has never stopped, with new stations continually being built.
The Metro has become an architectural attraction in Tashkent. Just about every station has its own unique design, with decorations made by the leading artists and sculptors of the USSR.
Around 160,000 people ride the Tashkent Metro each day, which adds up to be over 60 million rides each year. At peak hours, trains run every 4 minutes, while in the late evenings trains can run 20 minutes apart.
Some of our travelers upon completion of Central Asia tour extend their journey to South Caucasus making it a real Silk Road tour.
Here is the last bunch of photos from our Central Asia group tour. It conveniently matches with Caucasus group tour, thus making a Silk Road tour from east to west, following the traces of caravans in the past.
This time we would like to show you photos from Bukhara (Uzbekistan) and Kunya-Urgench, Ashgabat, Merv, Old Nisa and Darvaza Gaz Crater (a.k.a Door to Hell), in Turkmenistan.
We have posted photos from the ongoing Central Asia tour earlier. Here is the next bunch of impressions from Tashkent and Khiva in Uzbekistan and Khujand in Tajikistan.
The highlights of the tour in these destinations (in addition to awe inspiring historical buildings) were:
Watching bread being baked at Chorsu bazaar (Tashkent, Uzbekistan); Learning about Uzbek traditional cradle (Tashkent); Exploring the biggest monument of Lenin in Central Asia (Khujand, Tajikistan); Try to bargain at traditional bazaar in Khudjand; Traveling back in time to the 19th century in Khiva.
