This morning's sunrise on the frozen Clark Fork was spectacular. I can only assume that we are finally reaching the end of the frozen river days, but it's still pretty amazing to see it frozen like this so late in the year. Hope your day is fantastic.
First sunrise of the new year of daylight savings time 2019 was a beautiful thing to behold. Now if Spring could just get the memo and stop by. Looks like 48 more hours of snow starting tonight.
The last rays of each day are a special time to be out and about. I managed to catch that moment west of Frenchtown last weekend. The snow might be retreating by the next time I make it out that way. One can hope I guess. Thanks for following me around.
I know I have a thing for taking photos of owls, but I like the mountains too, so I combined the two last weekend when we were up in the Mission Valley. Get out there and enjoy the last day before daylight savings time.
Haystacks in the Mission Valley last weekend. Since it's pretty much been below freezing for a month or so, nothing is really changing out there. Thanks for following me around, have a great weekend and stay warm.
I saw this sharp shinned hawk watching my birdfeeder last night. It's always amazing the kinds of birds we get to see in spite of the fact that we live right in the middle of town.
It was such a remarkable day up in the Mission valley last weekend. Everywhere I looked there was something beautiful to photograph. I hope the end of the snow season is coming soon, but in the mean time, this is what it looks like out there.
We got to see a couple of coyotes this past weekend cruising around looking for a snack. This fella was west of Ronan.
Last light of day in the sub zero cold in the Mission Valley last weekend. I know I complain about the snow and cold here, but even for here this has been a pretty crazy cold week of weather for March. My friends are showing temperatures in the mid -30s to low -40 degree temperature range. I feel lucky that it was only -12 yesterday. I think spring is coming, but I'll wait and see.
Got to see this red fox yesterday. It was laying in the snow sleeping until I stopped my car. Then it looked up at me and I was able to snap a couple quick shots before it decided it needed to be elsewhere. Thanks for riding along with me.
This was my view from my street the other evening when the clouds broke and the sun shined on Mount Sentinel just before dark. What a neat place to live.
A very cool old barn near Victor, the snow adds something special to the shot it seems. Get out and enjoy today if you can. I'll try to find something to take a few images of in spite of the single digit highs.
Folks have been out hiking and skiing the face of Mount Sentinel above town in their spare time lately. Not sure how many towns in the world let you walk up the mountains on the edge of town to ski, but I'm pretty fortunate to live where you can.
Burst of snow along the Clark Fork last week while I was out looking for owls at the end of the day. I really love the light at the end of the day. Seems like we're getting more light day by day, of course we're on pace to not get above zero much for the next few days. Stay warm my friends.
Thanks for the photo Mark Bryant.
Blue Heron rookery at dawn south of Deer Lodge a week or so ago. Hope you guys are enjoying the ride along in my little world.
