I just came here to buy a fish and the lady was so rude. Just looked at me when I came up to the counter with a nasty smirk and didn’t even say hi. Also, the tortoise’s shell is decaying due to stress. This is a terrible business and it smells absolutely horrendous. This is the last time I’m coming to this place.

Love zimmers got all of my pets here and my mom did when I was a child some are pricy.but their bedding food and supplies for small animals are so cheap

There was a dead turtle in there the last time I was there. I have a video of it. Had to clean my house of mites after a visit. Yes they have a wide variety of pets that end up dying or in an unhealthy state. The owner doesn't treat customers very well either. He sure is an assholes if you ask me

They do not take care of their animals. Their puppy's were all completely lethargic and the reptile tanks were nasty. Looked like they hadn't been cleaned for about three weeks. A lot of their lizards and snakes had mites. Even the rabbits were not very active. The only reason I would spend money here is to save the animals from their "care". Zimmer's shouldn't be in business!

Don't buy into this "family breeder" BS. Zimmers is absolutely a PUPPY MILL. They could not care less about any of their animals and do not value the health or well being of these poor dogs.
I bought a dog there 6 years ago. Against my better judgement, but I fell in love with her. When we picked her up they said she might have worms and if she did to not take her to a vet, to bring her back to them. Of course I took her to a vet and she had worms. She vomited every single day until she completed her treatment. While that was disappointing, it wasn't so bad. Puppies get worms, right?
At age two, my dog injured both of her knees. Long story short, she needed double knee surgery. Both her vet and her orthopedic surgeon made it clear to me, unsolicited, that this specific injury was the direct result of a genetic defectt that was a hallmark sign of overbreeding, aka, she came from a puppy mill. Thousands of dollars and 6 months later, she was cleared to return to normal activity.
She's now 6. Last week I was petting her and found a huge, hard lump on her stomach. After taking her to several vets to be examined and having the mass aspirated twice, we now believe she has a hernia. Again, I ask the vet --- a different vet than the one that treated her knees --- how does a dog get a hernia? The answer? Genetic defect. This will most likely lead to another painful and expensive surgery.
I don't begrudge my dog the money. I'm thankful I am able to give her the care she needs. But I fear what would have happened if she was adopted by someone that didn't have the means or inclination to spend the way we have to keep her healthy. I fear what we will find next and if it will shorten her already too-short life. It's not her fault that her parents were bread to the point of creating genetic defects in their puppies. I love her so much. We will continue to do anything she needs.
But the fact remains that everything she has gone through and will continue to go through, all the money we've had to spend, is the direct result of irresponsible breeding by a family that looks at these animals and only cares about the money they will bring in.
It makes me sad and disgusted that their store continues to operate after proving repeatedly to our community that they are not fit to do so responsibly.response / report this review -

Nice selection of exotic animals. Lots of animals to hold and pet. Dogs, even mixed breeds, are outrageously expensive.

There's been some controversy over the years about some employees, but you really won't find a better pet shop in the area that caters to all your pet needs both typical and exotic (ex: reptiles). Everyone I've ever spoken to has been friendly and knowledgeable. Since we moved, I haven't been able to find a better alternative.

Just plain Good old hometown customer service and a friendly knowledgeable staff! Typical high pet store pricing on puppies, kittens, birds, fish and reptiles but I think most people know that there are cheaper options out there for adopting a pet if this way is something you dont want to or cant do. I go in weekly to purchase live mice and never see sick or injured animals. Cages and puppy areas are never dirty and water seems to be fresh as well. All good experiences except sometimes it's real busy and the wait to have employee attention is longer. That is not a bother to me, as I enjoy browsing and checking out the pets as I wait but if you are impatient avoid Fri and Sat evenings. This review is for the Boyertown store only, btw! I do not know about other location/s. I have had to return a few things and even tho they clearly have their return policy posted they were willing to make a reasonable deal in order to make me happy and keep me coming back. I wouldn't compare Zimmers to PetCo, Petsmart or any other pet store because this place simply stands alone in my book.

Bought 2 ferrets, sombody had and returned, was told the cage alone was 300.00 after a little google search its a 74.99 cage, Needless to say ill never buy from here again. I could of gotten 2 baby ferrets and a 4 story cage from petsmart for what i paid this rip off artist. Ill be calling a lawyer tomorrow, my gf and kid were both there and herd that lier say it was a 300.00 cage. They're the ones who begged me for these rats.. i would of Never bought them. Ill be filing with the BBB.

It is a family ran business. The have really cute animals. The prices are a bit high for something's. But other wise not bad pricing. The owner and her husband give back to Boyertown always!

The staff was knowledgeable, but some of their reptiles really needed a bigger cage. The other animals seemed healthy and happy.

There is a severe lack on toys in most of the animals cages. Especially for the birds, which are intelligent creatures that need stimulation. Furthermore, many animals such as budgies, cockatiels, hamsters, and rats are crammed in cages that are much too small. Several pet rats also looked ill.
Animals need much more care than this pet store is willing or able to give. Please do not shop here unless they show they can properly care for their animals.response / report this review
