Nice we'll maintained trail, with enough elevation gain that you'll want to prepared with water and good shoes.

Great place for a hike, though not really for small kids. It's so steep that there are so many places they could easily fall. And, you're technically not supposed to walk on the Y.

The exposed face is perfect for night hiking, as light pollution from Provo is adequate, and when the moon is out, the trail is one of the best naturally lit as there is little to no shade. There are benches to rest on at most of the switchbacks, and the steep inclines make it a moderately strenuous hike, even if the distance is on the shorter end. Picnic tables are at the midpoint of the Y, several benches are on top, and one on the bottom.

If possible, go after sunset, take it easy and rest on the switchbacks, and if you can't go all the way there is a good outcropping of rock about halfway up the switchbacks you can get up on if you duck under some small brush.

Its Fun to hike up and look over the Valley. There is even a pretty good view just from the parking lot. But, the trail kicks up alot of dust due to lots of foot traffic, so if I'm just looking for a hike, I'll usually just go right next door to Rock Canyon.

Good hike for everyone, just really hot with no shade during the day. I'd recommend hiking it when the sun isn't right above you. The bathrooms, signs, and benches are nice.

Great workout. Up and down in less than an hour if you're fairly fit and don't spend much time at the top. Awesome views at the top and throughout. The sunset from the trail is incredible! Took off a star only because it's always extremely crowded.

Absolutely loved the hike. We took an umbrella that was the best idea ever. It made the very little shade experience much better. Bring at least 16 oz. Of water per person, maybe more. If you have knee, low back or ankle issues I would wait. It is steep at times for the unconditional but for the normal hiker, it's a breeze. We also took some trails just north of the Y which were also nice and adventurous but make sure you bring a lot more water AND hiking snacks. My 9 year old did it easily but my 21 year old had a little knee issue that became a little worse.

Hiked the Y mountain around 2 on a spring Thursday afternoon. It was crowded, but there are some few hikers. The hike is moderately difficult because of the elevation. The weather was nice and pleasant the view was beautiful. :) if you haven't hike for a while not exercise stretch before and after the hike, so you won't be too sore the next.

The Y Trailhead has a small parking lot which offers a wonderful view of Provo and Utah County. There's also a public restroom. The trail up to the Y is a moderately difficult hike that takes the casual hiker 30-45 minutes to climb depending on whether one stops at the many switchbacks to take in the view. If you have the physical stamina to jog up it, you are in great shape and it will take you about 15-20 minutes. There are benches along the route. At the Y, there are three stopping points (bottom, middle, top), but if you make it to the middle, you might as well go to the top. The caretakers ask people to stay off the Y and stay on the trail to avoid damage.
