  A few weeks back, we received and email and then a letter advising us that you had detected "trash" in our recycle bin. This was the first warning we've every received. Turns out, we had visitors staying with us that didn't know WM requirements and as a result put plastic bags in the recycle bin. They said that was acceptable in their community. I also find your guidance on what can be put in the recycle bin to be a bit vague regarding metals. I'm not clear on what kind of steel, copper, and aluminum items can be included. Can copper wire or a steel (or aluminum) box be included?

  If you live in Oakland, the set up is very hard. I was never able to get someone on the phone for the only option they give you, I waited over 6 hours on hold and no one answered. I had better luck going on the VM website and pleading a live chat rep to help me set it up. I was able to set it up via email. Once they set up the account it was very simple to do everything on the website. I learned that they do not replace the cans if they are damaged, they will just try and fix it.

  The times of pickup for each cans are completely different. The pickup 1 can as early as 7:30 and the last can after 4:00 pm
  2) With the exchanging of cans (brown to gray) WM gave me a smaller gray can. When I called WM they told me that if I want the same size can, I would have to pay more. It wasn't my Idea to change cans it was WM, and now I would need to pay more for what I had before.
  3) then I get a notice that WM has now equipped all their trucks with cameras, and will be fining the consumer if things are not placed in the right bins. Also, if my small gray can is over full, I would have to pay a penalty.
  4) the drivers pick up the cans with their automated equipment, and most of the time they don't place the can back on the sidewalk. It's knocked down or lying in the street and they just drive away.
  
  We Consumers are doing the job of separation so WM can resell and use the paper, plastic and green wastes. Then instead of rewarding us for doing WM's job, now we have to pay a penalty for misplacing something.
  
  I am all for going green and saving the planet, but WM has made it into a business and now wants the Consumers to pay penalties so their business prospers.
  
  Customer Service has gone out the window, and how much $$$ can be made is all that is left from WM.
  Maybe we should go back to one Can fits all, and let WM separate everything.
  
  I am extremely disappointed in this entire process, and hope it improves for the better.

  Every week, WM reliably empties my trash bin and my green bin! Every other week, they similarly service my recycle bin. The WM truck operators are friendly and efficient. At the beginning of each year, WM sends me a "hard copy" schedule so I am never in doubt as to which week is recycle week. (I keep that schedule on my fridge! :-) ). I give WM 5 stars for their excellent service!

  I am commenting on our twice a year pic up service. We love pick up day. Your employees are always efficient, competent and pleasant. No messes left behind and even waves back at us through the window.
