The parking for students is horrible. Winthrop took away close to 30 student parking spots and still raised the price for a parking permit. The cops run stop signs and speed for no reason. The campus smells bad randomly. The WiFi is the absolute worst. If you take a test online and it doesn’t kick you off then you’re lucky. Winthrop guest, Winthrop secure, and Winthrop registered are all bad. The dorms are overpriced, and all have a problems with black mold. The school doesn’t even have a football program and our tuition is competing with Clemson’s. If I could go back, I would definitely choose somewhere else.

The student parking is wack. $100 for a permit and the majority of students still have to park a mile away from classes in an unpaved, gravel parking lot, while staff only has to pay $35 for a permit and gets to park right beside buildings. The food is terrible. Everything in Thomason is tasteless and sometimes questionable. Also they close unreasonably early. Not everyone eats before 7 pm. Then the restaurants on campus aren't even all open at the same time, making choices very limited. Also all the restaurants close earlier on the weekends than they do during the weekday. Most people tend to eat later on weekends. Rock Hill is plain boring. Every time I go downtown, there's never anyone out there. More than half the student population goes home on the weekends because there's just nothing to do. Also Winthrop is right in front of a sketchy neighborhood, there's been multiple reports of burglary and sexual assault. The student center is less than impressive compared to other universities. The library is very small for it to be a college mainly known for it's courses in education. I wouldn't recommend it. I will be transferring.

Fantastic school. I love the beautiful campus, the small town feel of Rock Hill, and the excellent instruction I received in the history and political science departments.

Great, small classes. Only downside is the food court closes at 9 p.m., which is inconvenient on late studying nights or Fridays and Saturdays. Also, the recreation room closes at 11 p.m. which means there's nothing to do on campus at night.

Beautiful campus located in a beautiful area. The students and faculty are very friendly. Would highly recommend this public four-year college to anyone in the Carolinas!

Winthrop is a great school for traditional students, but not for non-traditional students. If you are older and have a life outside of college, I would not recommend attending Winthrop. They are not considerate with outside responsibilities, and will implement consequences for not being present at events during work times. I know this because I'm in my last semester at the University, and I am 31 years old.

Lovely campus, but not easy to find where I was going for a graduation ceremony. No one had a clue either. Parking was vague with no one to even point out a direction. The venue was beautiful after I caught my breath from the last minute dash up the hill in a mad rush. Great place to have a graduation.
