I have a 200 hour teacher training certification from a well-known corporate yoga studio where I practice and did my training in San Diego and wanted to continue with a 300 hour certification. My husband got stationed near Wilmington so I signed up for a 4-day workshop that would count as a module towards this certification. This was the WORST experience with a yoga studio I have ever had. The training started every day with an hour of kirtan (not necessarily bad so I am not including it in my appraisal that this studio deserves 1 star or less, just really not my thing so it bears mentioning). We then started working through the sequences that we would be learning to teach by doing a practice of them ourselves as a group. As a yoga teacher I was shocked at how unsafe and unintelligent the sequencing design was. The receptive rotational movements of the shoulders immediately began to bother my rotator cuff, so I scaled back to avoid any injury. The workshop description had claimed that we would learn 5 sequences. However, upon getting the manual, we were told that we could not teach them anywhere else without paying a royalty for the branded material. It was established in court, and in the court of public opinion, when Bikram tried it that you cannot copyright a yoga sequence. Furthermore, of the 5 sequences, one sequence was 25 minutes long with the other half of the class being to encourage "free flowing" and the other was just a self-guided practice. Sequences are valuable because they take a lot of time, skill and creativity to make. To sell 5 sequences and deliver 3 is fraud. There are many other great yoga studios in town that I have found since this awful experience that actually care about sacred yoga values and offer fantastic and safety sequenced classes. Absolutely horrible experience.
So far I have only been to two classes. Both times were different instructors. Each one of them bring unique experiences and truly help their students. They are willing to help and teach proper positions as well as care about the individual's well-being. Wilmington yoga makes you feel welcome. Not to many places do that anymore. I can't wait to go to my next class!
I just started back after having shoulder surgery. They have been very kind and helpful. There is no big push to do more than I am capable of. All of the instructors I have had have been wonderful! I love the hours, and they have a great variety of classes!
Awesome studio with options for the beginner yogi to advanced. GO!
I love how many classes are offered here. There is such a variety and I haven't had a problem in finding a class that fits my schedule. The facilities are clean and they have a room dedicated to hot yoga and a separate room for unheated yoga, which is nice. I have been in the Fire Room for hot yoga and it is a spacious room. I haven't felt like I was on top of anyone else. Everyone there has been very friendly and inviting. So far I have loved my experience!
Wilmington Yoga Center has experienced and knowledgeable yoga teachers. Even after practicing yoga for 25 years, it is rare for me to leave a class at WYC that I haven't learned something new.

I love how everyone is so friendly. The place is very calming. It doesn't matter how long I've been away I'm always welcomed back. They offer so many different classes that I hope to expand on one day besides the basic.
The staff are nice and helpful. The studio is visually appealing and has numerous classes to offer. I love the variety of workshops there are to choose from!
Wilmington Yoga Center offers so many classes to choose from each day from hot power to gentle, and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. I love to practice at Wilmington Yoga Center!
Love the teachers and studio! Tons of classes to choose from, hot options (which I like) and workshops and retreats year round. Also the shop has really cute yoga wear including spiritual gangster!
Worth every penny. WYC offers tons of classes that fit into my work schedule. The teachers are fantastic too! Work out for the mind, body, and spirit!
I love the convenience of the location, the quality and environment of the studio (natural lighting, yoga accessories, hot and normal temps for class variation, shower, towels for showers or refreshing at the close of yoga), and access to healthy food nearby during breaks when participating in longer workshops. I love the friendly and helpful staff and the quality, calibre and skill of the instructors well beyond yoga instruction to include significant depth of experience, hands-on assisting and healing, and personalization of classes by their individual addition of readings, singing, instrumentation or massage. WYC has been so much more than a yoga center in Wilmingtonit is friends, family and community offering fitness, fun, personal growth, healing and genuine unity and love. Thank you so much!
