They deliver things like ice and wood to your site and it's one of the best campgrounds I've been to.
Had a great camping experience at Whispering Surf. Great owners who were very helpful & accomodating. Very clean facilities. Beautiful location right next to Bass Lk. and Lk. Michigan. We'll definitely be coming back here!
It was fantastic. The new owners are friendly and eager to help whenever they can. We will definitely be back.
The sites are ridiculously smallstaff very cordial. If you like being 5 - 8 feet from your neighbors, this is your place. I will not be back.
Have been camping here with some good friends twice this year since the new ownership and it's been wonderful. Very shady, cool grounds, great tent camping sites, easy river access, clean bathrooms and a very friendly staff. We will certainly be back.
As of Feb 2017, Whispering Surf is under new ownership. The water situation has been solved by pulling great water from a totally new well. Both cabins are being fully renovated for a June 1, 2017 opening. They put in a dog park, offer 30 channel cable TV to every site and wifi improvements are being put into place. 8 Brand New seasonal sites have been added as of this year as well. Many seasonal campers have offered their compliments regarding all the improvements that have been made in a short amount of time.
Staff are friendly and welcoming! :) campground itself clean and we kept. Nice children's playground..
What a beautiful and quiet campground! The sites are a little tight, but we went during the week when it was not full. The bathrooms are meticulously neat and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. We rented a kayak and paddled from Bass Lake to Lake Michigan and it was a gorgeous trip through the dunes. We will go back to this campground the first chance we get!
First time camping at Whispering Surf and likely I will not return. A somewhat peculiar and very quiet campground with a family friendly theme. However, I feel the photos and descriptions on their website to be a bit exaggerated. The lots are extremely small and the lot I was assigned was very uneven, which made entering & exiting my unit difficult. The awning on my 24’ travel trailer was 3” away from a tree on one side and my slide out was 6” over the next lot marker on the opposite side. Very narrow! My neighbor’s fire ring was literally four feet from my trailer, I measured it. The water has a high level of sulfur which caused my trailer to smell of rotten eggs. So, plan on running bleach water through your water lines/system after staying at Whispering Surf. The private beach area is not large enough to accommodate the amount of guests at Whispering Surf, so it becomes congested quickly. In comparison of dozens of other campgrounds throughout West Michigan I have visited, I will certainly choose other places.
Amazing! Those in charge were supremely nice and helpful. The bathrooms were always kept clean, and the grounds were also kept clean. Wonderful activities in the campground and in the surrounding areas for the whole family. We tent camped using 2 full sites with water and electric (three kids, 2 adults with two total tents and a canopy) as we read reviews that the sites could be a bit on the small side. Using two was perfect for us and still a bargain! We will definitely be returning in the future!
