We have a saying at 1000 Spruce about the complexities of Wheelhouse: “The things that make operating this venue so difficult are the things that make it so special.” • We remind ourselves of that regularly. When the venue changes its form & function for the 4th time in a day & our staff is worn down & scrambling for their 3rd or 4th wind. We remind ourselves of that. What we also do is remind ourselves what our need to change is reflective of. • It’s reflective of a diverse ...& colorful city that needs a lot of stimulation. A city that wants to play, party, dance and cheer. We’re proud that week in & week out you guys choose us to be a reason to celebrate. Whether for a good meal, a long brunch, pregame party, watch a game or light the night up with us - you guys keep coming back & challenging us to do better for you. This City is everything to us and we intend to continue to be as much as we can for it. • 314 Day is for us. For all of us. To celebrate all the things we love about Saint Louis. We use our social media platforms to celebrate our staff & their accomplishments as much as possible. From birthdays to graduations to career moves, we have the most amazing people & their outstanding accomplishments plastered all over these accounts. But sometimes a heartfelt post just doesn’t seem to cut it... this is one of those times. • John Pizzitola & Cory Branch have been as much a part of Wheelhouse as Mwanzi Table tops, Bottomless Mimosas & DJ Deks. And this last we...ek they officially left us to pursue a bountiful opportunity elsewhere... • We are thankful that elsewhere happens to be within the 1000 Spruce family at our newest venue The Midwestern. They’ll always be close to home. • It’s very important to shine as much light as possible on how important these two gentlemen have been to the success of our brands. Honest, direct, passionate, and always letting their work speak for itself, these two boys have led from the back, from within, and up front, throughout their entire careers with us. • Both have put their lives on hold countless times to make sure that their second home was cared for as well or even better than their firsts. Treating staff like family and guests like friends in their own living rooms. Putting all the care & attention they possess into every drink poured, shot mixed, joke told & greeting given. There may not be another 2 person combination that’s given more to this block than these two. It would certainly be a good debate. • Knowing that the experience, love and dedication for their crafts & their city was grown out here at Wheelhouse is something we won’t ever run out of pride for. Knowing it’s just moving a block down to grow out another venue in our family is something we won’t ever run out of excitement for. • We end these posts with a simple “We love you, Pizz. We love you, Cory” and while this one feels like it warrants even more than that - it’s what we want to say. It’s what we mean. And it’s what we want you to know. We really are so thankful for everything. We really are so proud of you both. It’s that experience, in his personal and professional life, that has made him more than just a trusted friend and worthy manager for Spruce Street. • It’s that experience, combined with his relentless attention to detail, passion for high integrity service, and near motherly care and love for his staff, their success and well being that has promoted him from Wheelhouse... Manager to Head of Restaurant Operations for Wheelhouse and our new sibling venue, The Midwestern. • We simply wouldn’t trust the care of so many people, such complicated and difficult operations, and the maintenance of the products and services we all work so hard to provide, with anyone else. • We are as thankful as ever for you Ryan.
