I've been looking for a surf board recently, and my friend and I traveled to other surf shops in the South Western part of Michigan, only to be disappointed by terrible customer service at other shops. It was SO refreshing to show up at Wet Mitten this past weekend and to be met by the guys working (Mike & Austin) who were super friendly, helpful, willing to take the time to talk to you in depth about product and local surf (I just moved here from an overseas surf community). An all around great experience. This shop has earned my business from now on over any other competition in the area.

BEST SURF SHOP EVER! Ben and Tim are the best. This shop is about the people, not just the products. Although I love the product selection, the people are what keep me and my family coming back time and time again. These guys truly get it. Wet Mitten is a must stop destination for anybody visiting Grand Haven.

I bought 2 SUP boards and all the corresponding gear from Ben at the Wet Mitten and the experience far exceeded my expectation.
I was expecting "a surfer attitude" like I had experience at other places, but what I actually experienced was far from that. Ben and his employees are true professionals who know their product and their sport and are able to match their clients with exactly what they are looking for. Even after the sale Ben has been extremely helpful and a great resource for me.
Spend your money at a great local company who understands customer service and appreciates their clients.

I went to the Wet Mitten in Grand Haven looking to purchase a stand up paddle board. I knew virtually nothing about them except what they look like. The sales person, Zack, was awesome. He took the time to learn about the type of people who would be using the board and the type of water it would be used upon. I explained that it would be used by a variety of people of different ages, sizes and athletic ability. I also explained that it would be used primarily on Lake Michigan. Zack then gave me several recommendations based upon my needs and took down each board to show me the differences between the boards. I ultimately decided on an NSP Elements 11 foot board. Zack even helped me load it onto my roof rack and strap it down. So far, so good! The first day we took it down to the beach was pretty rough, but my 15 year old nephew was able to get up on it pretty easily and even caught a few small waves. I can tell it will be getting a lot of use this summer. I would highly recommend this surf shop if you're looking to jump on the SUP bandwagon!
