The most convenient airport in the NY area. Very simple, not complicated. Non stops to FL. The seating area is very tight and the bathrooms are very tight. Food options are terrible. No REAL FOOD OPTIONS AFTER SECURITY. AND EXTREMELY OUTDATED.
$12.49 for a sorry plastic wrapped ham and cheese sandwich. First time flying out of Westchester, and so far that’s what’s determining my experience. Yes, check in was quick, security had no line but then you are in this tiny overcrowded boarding area with almost no seats available, the outlets don’t work and the only food option is this sorry little kiosk selling gas station type sandwiches for $12.49. That’s ridiculous.
this is a sad airport. the best thing about it is that its small. the worst thing about it is it looks decrepit. And did you know that AMERICAN is the only airline there that doesnt have standard boarding equipment? We had to get off the plane by a ramp and then hike on the tarmac to the terminalnot fun in the icy rain. I told the staff I had a bad knee and he replied "Dont worry its not that steep". Thanks alot American Airlines!
Frequent delays, poor communication, some of the worst TSA agents I've seen . The gate area is crowded, limited seating and very limited food options. It does have the advantage of being a small airport, pickup is easy and you don't have to deal with city madness.
I've been to 50 airports, this is bottom 5 overall and the worst small airport I've been to.
It's wee, very wee - with 6 gates (ok, 4 really). Two of these have jet bridges, and the rest are of the "walkway" kind.
There really isn't much room in here, or much to do,or that many flights for that matter. The good news to this is, if your travel plans support it, you can spend minimal. Time at the airport - 10 minutes to make it through security, and that's it (less if your TSAPre).
So yeah, the upside is convenience
Would give 4 stars for ease of use and location of this airport. Boarding area is small and gets crowded but location and ease to get to and park at this airport makes up for that inconvenience. TSA at this site really draws all the positives away, they are not customer focused, you get a lot of attitude and little acknowledgement that you are there. Not very helpful to those that are not familiar with process. I travel often and while this is not every person at TSA at this airport on average very poor experience.
It's a very nice airport. Always on time never experienced any delays like la Guardia airport. Also their is never an issue with traffic. Only 28minutes from my home, also a BIG PLUS WITH NO TOOLS AT ALL,you don't have to pay any tolls, once u try this airport you won't regret it that's a promise
Although a bit crowded for the amount of passengers it is a very convenient airport when you live north of the city. Friendly staff including TSA personnel.
Quick baggage processing.
This is my favorite airport. Security is always quick and not stressful. All employees are very helpful, kind, and personable. I use this at my go-to airport every time it's possible!
It's a bit small Airport that serves domestic destinations. Exit 2 off 684 Highway
There is a parking lot all the way outside before you get to the Airport terminal where you can wait in your car while looking at a huge screen that shows flight schedule; I find it very convenient
The airport itself is ok but if you have an early flight don't expect to see a precheck line (even though one is labeled), it's a huge cluster f**k. They throw everyone in the same line and when TSA finally does open (15 mins before boarding) they try weeding out the precheck individuals..not very efficient.
Since moving to Westchester county recently traveling to JFK to catch a flight can be a bit much so I now look for departures from HPN. However, depending on where you are traveling to the use of this airport can be more trouble that it is worth.
But on my recent trip to Atlanta, GA I used this airport for the first time. The commute was very easy and the parking options and prices compared to JFK parking was much better. I did not park at the airport instead I parked at the Hilton nearby because they offered a cheaper rate as well as a shuttle service. They also did not nickel and dime me when my return flight was delayed and arrived late.
The airport itself has got to be one of the smallest that I have ever seen. There is only one security entrance and 8 gates. There is also only one baggage claim area with one luggage belt. Although the airport was very small my arrival and departure went smoothly. Even when there were long lines at the TSA check point it moved along quickly and in an orderly fashion.
I would definitely utilize this airport again
The best airport in the NY area. Very simple, not complicated. Non stops to FL. The seating area is very tight and the bathrooms are very tight. Food options are terrible. No REAL FOOD OPTIONS AFTER SECURITY. AND EXTREMELY OUTDATED.
For local residents clearly the best choice. You won't always find the cheapest fares, or fastest flights, but it beats driving down to JFK or LGA. My second choice would be Bradley in Hartford.
I fly weekly around the US and I'm a big fan of smaller airports. This one was disappointing. There are several airports smaller than this one with far more amenities. TSA was a nightmare forcing people to stand in a long queue there's no reason for that in a small airport I'm sure someone somewhere knows that flights are scheduled in advance and it is not difficult to determine exactly when and how many people will need to get through security. It would be nice if they could schedule accordingly. I also enjoyed the chaos of how the boarding area is arranged and standing outside in the rain on both flights.
