The people are really nice. The pets available for adoption are limited. Seems to be a lot of Pitbull and terriers. Also a bunch of older dogs. My understanding is that any dog worth adopting comes in and gets adopted really quick.

I had a stray cat show up at my driveway today. The cat was obviously very skinny and hungry, and I believe it’s also deaf, probably from ear infections. I had compassion and fed the poor thing. I have a couple dogs and cats already and definitely can’t keep this cat (I would also exceed my hoa limit). So I did what I was supposed to do and took him to the shelter where I was told they wouldn’t take him (might be a her, not sure). I emphasized that this cat has no place to go and that I couldn’t believe they would sanction having this cat live in woods and possibly get eaten by a coyote or die from malnutrition. The lady was extremely rude and told me that I can’t let it go because she will call animal control and take a picture of my license plate and have me cited. So now I am trying to figure out how to deal with this issue in the most humane way possible. I just can’t believe the “shelter” doesn’t have a contingency plan and abuses good people who just want to help. If they treat humans like this, makes you wonder how they actually treat their resident animals. So much for doing the right thing in Warren county. They clearly have no compassion and no plan.

Adopted my baby girl Ellie here ( her name was Rayne). Staff was friendly, accomodating, and supportive. It was love at first sight for me! She had to stay until she was spayed so I came several times during the wait period to build a bond with her at a staff member's suggestion. She was timid at first but came out of her shell quickly. She is the BEST girl ever!!

A great team of people who are serious about the welfare of their animals. We recently adopted a dog from there and were relieved to see them take all the necessary precautions to make sure that the dog would be a great fit for our home. We have adopted 2 animals from here and both are angels!

Went to this shelter 11/25. Found a sweet shepherd mix, with a great repore with us. Had a small issue with us, wife and teen daughter, touching his ears so we asked why. The volunteer trainer didn't know . Said we'd need to wait til 11/27 to find out after a vet check and because our almost 18 year old son wasn't with us. I was told to call late morning to get the vets evaluation. I called 3 times by 2:30pmfinally called me just before 3 pm to be told there was nothing physically wrong, it was their opinion that the dog was nervous and pulled away from me as a male and would not allow the adoption. I told her she had her facts wrong, the male dog didn't pull away, he ducked or turned his head whenever any of us touched an ear.not when we touched his head, or scratched his noses. They refused to hear opposing opinion or allow more investigational interaction.my daughter was counting the time til Rex was with us . Now I must tell her they were "protecting us and the dog"We adopted a reserved , very nervous male cattle dog from this shelter 4 years before and it wasn't an issue then.the poor dog doesnt have a chance if there can't be males in the house.all that mattered is their generalistic, partial fact opioion.

The shelter volunteers or employees are not educated in many areas. If the kittens don't have adequate training of litter boxes at a young age, they will never adapt. Such a shame to put the animals and families through emotional turmoil.
I recently moved to my retirement home well-prepared to have new additions. I donated $400 for two 4-month old kittens. After 6 weeks of accidents, re-caging, 4 litter boxes, and all the new carpet damage, my daughter returned the kittens to the center. That didn't go well either, as she left crying. My first clue should have been how "nasty and hateful" the lady was when I filled out the original application.
I would gladly have donated and more, to have avoided all the above. Rating - very poor. Shelley Means

BE INFORMED! THIS SHELTER ONLY ADOPTS OUT THERE ANIMALS TO INSIDE HOMES! We visited the shelter last week with plans to adopt a cat. We had heard that they had an over abundance of kittens and cats and since we had already decided to add a cat to our family we made the 50 min drive to Lebanon. While observing the cats and kittens, we talked with one of the volunteers who informed us that, "if we didn't find the cat we were looking for we should check back in a week because they had an additional 250 cats and kittens on the premises that were waiting for (a) cages to empty out or (b) there vaccinations so that they could be brought out for adoption." Our 14 year old daughter kept gravitating back to a specific cat so we decided to leave the shelter, do some things in the area to give us some time to think it over. We returned in a couple of hours to adopt our cat! We filled out the required paper work, which is where everything started to go down hill! When the woman processing our paperwork found out we were keeping our cat outside she informed us that she had talked to the manager and they could not adopt out a cat that would be kept outside! (Side note: We live out in the country surrounded by fields and barns and our cats love it!) They insisted that this was the policy and that ALL animals in their shelter had to be adopted into homes where they would be inside. The volunteer came into the observing room and took the cat away from our daughter, who was now fighting back tears. After we left, I made one last attempt to make this happen, and placed a call to see if I could speak directly to the manager. When he got on the phone, he insisted that the policy was what it was and that was that. I was in the middle of suggesting that they reconsider a policy that is not in the best interest of the animals when he literally hung up on me!
The only conclusion I can come up with is that THIS shelter thinks it's more humane to keep over 250 cats and kittens locked up in cages and glass rooms instead of allowing them to be a part of a family; out in the fresh country air where they are being played with, loved, and fed everyday. Very sad for all the animals trapped there.

I have adopted tow dogs from this shelter and they have always been very welcoming and easy to deal with. Small enough to not be overwhelmed but big enough to have plenty of choices.

We adopted a 5 year old Newfoundland /Labrador mix. She was dropped off by a previous owner and told only her name was Pixie. She had been neglected very badly. She had bald spots in her fur and sores on her elbows, butt and stomach. Her feet were a mess. She is an amazingly beautiful dog. It's going to take a while to get her where I want and need her to be. Teresa was very helpful and kind and tried to help me as much as she could. I know she cares about her job and loves animals. I say if your looking for a new fur baby definitely look here. Thank you for letting us adopt Pixie she is now a loved member of our family. Thanks Teresa for all your help
