We visited today. It’s a beautiful place. But,, 1. It is very expensive though just take a dip. $20 a person is absurd. Especially since the bathrooms are disgusting, the museum is closed. The guide knew nothing about the place. All they knew was how to collect money at the door. When we told them about the bathrooms and showers. They acted as if they are responsive to them. But the same band-aid was on the floor when I arrived as when I left. Not to mention also, The water in the mop bucket was black. For a family of 5 to pay $100 for this is a black mark for the city of North Port.. Will not be back!! Also, be careful when you shower, as I witnessed a child urinating in one of them because the bathrooms were full. And didn’t turn it on to rinse it out. We left feeling very dirty and $100 lighter!!!

Place was a huge letdown and fell far below our expectations. After driving 3 hours hoping to be greated with a soothing and pleasant warm water experience we were discouraged as soon as we arrived. The interior looks like something from 1980 that hasn't been updated in years. $55 for 3 people, one child two adults, is robbery when you consider other springs that charge half that per vehicle. The second immediate thing is the lukewarm water and the smell. It's horrid. Everywhere you go around the spring is this constant putrid smell, which turns out to be sulfur. It clings to you and even after a shower the smell will be glazed in your skin. Not even after washing the suits did the smell come out and we had to dispose of them. I understand that you can't help the minerals in the spring but, $55 dollars for two adults and a kid is a complete waste for lukewarm water, inescapable odor of sewage, and 45 minutes of trying to justify the money. Can't say I would recommend this to anyone. Pass on this and go to any other spring.

Truly a surreal experience. My expectations were nothing like the reality the only expectation that was met was paying quite a high price to experience something almost indescribable.

I am going to say right away that it was worth it as a one off and I am glad I payed the price of admission but I would be unlikely to repeat the adventure at the current cost. $20 adult $15 for student no charge for children 5 and under at the time of this review.

The facility itself was adequate and I liked the 50s feel. This place seemed like a throwback to a time when life was a bit simpler. The idea is that the minerals in the "warm" spring heal any number of ailment. Another Florida fountain of youth. I am not a believer but it quickly became apparent to me that quite a few are and this has lead to the springs continuing popularity.

The swimming experience goes like this. The main draw for me was the warm aspect of the spring. I had in my mind a hot tub kinda thing and was willing to put up with the strange smell of sulphur described by other visitors. Upon entering the water I found that the warmth I was seeking was nowhere to be found. The smell however was as described and the floating globs of slime were an added bonus.

Round and round I went with dozens of others, most of whom were talking in what I believe was Russian, as the not quite warm water with the peculiar smell did its healing work. I began to feel as though I was swimming in stagnant hole. I then ventured out over the 200' drop that was the spring. There was visibility to about 20' but I could see the walls covered in gray slim drop down into the greenish abyss.

As I searched the edge I came across two fish one after the other. The first was a gar but unlike any I had seen before. I was a small one but I got sense that its growth had been stunted. I notices that it's head was bent upwards as well and it had some growths of some kind on the lower part of its neck. It's eyes were bulging and it's vision was so poor that I was able to overtake it and touch it before is scooted off. The second fish was a stunted Tarpon whose eyes were also strangely large and bulging. I was able to touch this fish as well and it too scooted away awkwardly.

I really began to think this place was anything but healthy but it added to the adventure and I enjoyed the whole experience. Such a strange and interesting place in so many ways. It was like another country. I recommend it very much.

Definitely an experience! $20 will get you a unique wellness treatment whose health benefits are endless. People have reported joint pain and swelling going away after just one visit. After paying at the counter and going through the changing room, the tunnel of a hallway dumps you onto a well manicured lawn around a small lake, trimmed by tall palm trees with chairs sprinkled underneath them around the perimeter of the lake. The air smells like sulfur ( aka eggs ) but the smell is light and not pungent. The waters are warm and you can feel the mineral springs hitting you here and there while swimming clockwise around the lake. The crowd is predominantly Eastern European and older, most people stay around the perimeter and “walk” the lake. You can also swim a smaller circle, that is much deeper because the lake is basically a sink hole. The water is greenish and filled with microscopic algae and a fish or two, but nothing harmful. It’s recommended to stay in the water for as long as you can for maximized benefits. No coolers allowed but you can get stamped and leave for lunch.
Open 9-5. Accepts Visa, MC, Discover but no Amex.

We come here every year. We absolutely love this place. The lake is so warm and welcoming. Picnic areas are grassy, clean with lots of shade. You can bring your own food and hang out all day. They have dedicated kids area. The only annoying thing about their rules is that you cannot bring coolers on the site. You can bring your food in plastic bags only. And they provide the bags for you. Other than that it's a great place for the whole family.

I wasn't sure about this place after reading some other reviews, but I'm glad I came to see for myself.

So relaxing and tranquil. People from all over the world come for the healing minerals. The grounds are well kept. They no longer have a restaurant but you can bring your own food, however coolers are not allowed.

They also offer spa services. I had an amazing deep tissue massage that was actually supposed to be a swedish massage, but the masseuse decided I was too stressed and needed the deep tissue...on her.

They make you glad you came!

2nd time visiting. There were more open.."structures" back in 2013 than there are right now in Aug 2017, but it makes NO difference- This place is absolutely one of THE most irreplaceable things in not just Florida, but in the world. Read up on the prehistoric remains to intrigue the heck out of yourself, and then visit and enjoy the relaxation, and the healing infused straight through your skin from thousands of years of mineral deposits flowing out of the earth, from this one outstanding cave. It's scientifically like no other, and you can feel it after a day in these waters. They're working on prospective plans for rebuilding some of the existing (and currently closed) structures if that matters to you. In the meantime it has everything you "need" - large restroom facilities with showers and changing rooms, plenty of chairs, or toss a blanket under one of the Old FL canopy oak trees for shade when you wants, and the shop upfront sells drinks, snacks, sunblock, little gifts, etc..

If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is it. There were not a lot of kids here. My kids would have been bored. But I enjoyed the water and sitting and reading. I have no idea about all the health benefits of the springs.

Very relaxing tranquil atmosphere, floating in the water gives you a weightless sensation and the minerals make your skin feel soft.

The waters are very calming. Said to be healthy & restorative. The waters from 200' deep hole have strong connection to Earth & provide a strong grounding.

Facility is old Florida (pre-Disney) tourist attraction style. Very unique because of Eastern European clientele. Most people are floating around lake & speaking Russian. Admission at $20 is very steep, but there are discounts for multiple visits. Only snacks are available for purchase. Bring a chair, & food / drinks in a bag. No coolers allowed. There is plenty of shade under large trees.

People come from around world to experience these waters. Floridians should be encouraged to take advantage of this special place close to home.

We enjoyed our afternoon spent here. The water was warm and inviting. The smell is pretty sulphur-y but you get used to it after a bit. The lifeguard on duty was nice. Locker rooms with showers was a great bonus. $20 a person was a bit steep for admission though, it was fun but with a price tag like that we probably won't be back.
