Went once, got the regular burger with pepperjack cheese which was really good. The fries were really good too. I also got pizza cheese fries which were ok but I was just really full from the burger. Food came out really fast and the service was great. Went at like 3 o'clock and it wasn't very busy. I think I'll find myself back here.
I have been to Village Cafe twice so far. My experience so far has been great. My first dish I tried was beef lasagna. OMG, please add to menu. Not from Richmond, from Boston. Best food so far. The fish and chips was ok. Not #5 worthy. I want to come for a third time, can anyone suggest another meal for me to try?
They're pretty good, a nice place if you want something consistent. They serve Cafe style food with a little bit of character. Good for comfort food or beer
This has to be my favorite local place to eat. All the food I've tried there has been A+ and very affordable for the amount of food you get. Great size portions, everyone is very kind, and fun environment. It can get a bit loud at times so be weary of that. But otherwise, it's a must try!
Cool atmosphere with great food. You Must have a milkshake when you go. They have a sorts of interesting flavors you can have in a vanilla or chocolate base.
Some good comfort diner food. Service is great. The fried chicken is terrible. They tout their milkshakes but I'd go to the galaxy if that's what I wanted. They're infinitely better there. Overall I'd say go to the Village for convenience. Go to the Galaxy on Cary if you have the time and you're graving a diner menu.
Village cafe is the perfect Saturday morning greasy spoon eatery that college kids crave. The portions are huge but the price is reasonable. Service is fantastic! Both attentive and accommodating. Would totally recommend if you are less into gourmet food pairings and more into eating pancakes as big as your face.
I lived just a block away from the Village for 3 years and have eaten there more times than I can count. I absolutely love this place! The food is great, the service is always wonderful, and the atmosphere is quintessentially Richmond. The breakfast food is my favorite, and it's served all day! Next time you're in Richmond and craving a fantastic diner experience, I would highly recommend stopping by the Village Cafe!
Food is good, but overpriced. They make good burgers but nothing special so I can't justify the price. Not a very good selection of beers (mostly craft, no imports, no big name beers. I understand some people like that but I prefer an import to an IPA). Atmosphere is nice, but a little crowded. I'd only go again if my family was visiting or something
The Village Cafe is undeniably the best restaurant in RVA. They offer a large variety of food including breakfast all day. They also have a huge milkshake menu that offers lots of customization. Overall this place is just simply amazing, and I highly recommend the Country fried steak.
This is a VCU staple. The food is good and its reasonably priced. They display local artwork inside. The seats are old, but comfy. The people are nice, and they have really cool glasses for your drinks.
What a fun place near VCU campus. We were looking for something quick, and we found it. We lucked out on finding parking on the street (which was only $1.25 for an hour) and sat ourselves inside. The seats could stand to be reupholstered and it's a tight space, but it wasn't a bother. Our waiter was very nice, and we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and a grilled chicken sandwich called "The Joshua." I especially liked my grilled chicken sandwich! Once we were done they got us paid up quickly, which was awesome because we had a lot to do that day. We were there for about a half hour tops! Efficient and yummy.
The food was pretty standard cafe fare and all of it tasted pretty good. The portions were overall pretty generous, as one from my party ordered a plate of chicken fingers from the children's menu that looked like it could have been a small at other places. My sandwich was a good enough size, but my side was a bit on the small size; it seems that had I ordered fries instead of broccoli for my side, I could have expected a bit more. While I myself did not order a soda, several in my party did and they were pretty massive: they came out with mini pitchers full of the chosen beverage; nobody ordered a refill on the soda because they were so huge in the first place. The inside of the restaurant had a nice, casual atmosphere and our server was helpful and pleasant and overall it was a good place to visit for lunch.
