THIS REVIEW IS GOING TO INTO A VERY EXPENSIVE LAWSUIT, AGAINST OWNER KEITH RICHTER!!! HIS VETERINARY STAFF TOOK CUSTODY OF MY EXTREMELY VALUABLE PURE BRED CZECH REPUBLIC MALE GERMAN SHEPHERD ON AUGUST 10, 2017. MY 8 YEAR OLD MALE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG HAD 3 SEVERE MAJOR SEIZURES THAT DAY, AND THIS VETERINARY HOSPITAL WAS GOING TO PERFORM MRI ON HIS BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD NEXT DAY ON AUGUST 11, 2017....(NAMELY THE
VETERINARY SPECIALITY HOSPITAL OF SD, 10435 SORRENTO VALLEY ROAD, SD, CA.....) THIS
EMERGENCY HOSPITAL DIDN'T GIVE MY DOG ANY SEIZURE MEDS OR DRINKING WATER, FOR FIVE (5) LONG HOURS AFTER I ARRIVED AT 6 PM, EVEN THOUGH I STAYED 2 HOURS THERE, TELLING THEM DIRECT INSTRUCTIONS FROM EL CAJON VALLEY VETERINARY HOSPITAL TO DO SO IMMEDIATELY, OR MY GERMAN SHEPHERD WOULD DIE!! MY GERMAN SHEPHERD SUFFERED A STROKE DUE TO LACK OF WATER AND MEDICINES ON MY WAY HOME ON AUGUST 11, 2017....THE OFFICE MANAGER AND CEO ON DUTY BROUGHT MY DOG OUT ON STRETCHER, THEN THEY BOTH THEN STATED THAT THE S.D. POLICE DEPT. WOULD BE CALLED TO FORCE MYSELF AND MY SEVERELY ILL GERMAN SHEPHERD OFF THEIR PREMISES AT ONCE!! THE OFFICE MANAGER AND CEO, ALONG WITH THE FEMALE NEUROLOGICAL SURGEON....THEY ALL STATED TO ME THAT I WAS REFUSED MRI BRAIN EXAM AND FURTHER SERVICE BECAUSE I THREATENED TO SUE THEM DUE TO NELIGLENCE!!!
I'M SUING OWNER, DR. KEITH RICHTER, FOR SEVERAL MILLIONS IN LAWSUIT.
HIS OVERNIGHT FEMALE STAFF MANAGER, NAMELY "CORINA", COMMITTED FELONY AGAINST ME BY LYING TO 911 OPERATOR SENDING FIRE DEPT. TO MY HOUSE SAYING CATHY BURGER WAS HAVING HEART ATTACK ON AUGUST 13, 2017 AT 545 AM!!! THIS OVERNIGHT HOSPITAL FLOOR SUPERVISOR , A WOMAN NAMED "CORINA", TOLD ME SHE WOULD TEACH ME A LESSON ON THREATENING LAWSUITS BY CALLING 911 AND SENDING FIRE TRUCK TO MY RESIDENCE!!
THE SAN MIGUEL FIRE DEPT. AND AMBULANCE PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY WITH SIRENS BLAZING, AND SAID THAT THE CALL CAME FROM VETERINARY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL OF S.D.!! I SAID THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO SUCH BLATANT ILLEGAL THINGS, THAT IS A FELONY!!
I'M SUING VETERINARY SPECIALTY HOSPITAL FOR DAMAGES IN SAN DIEGO SUPERIOR COURT, FOR SEVERAL MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF HARM DONE DUE TO THEIR INTENTIONAL FELONY NEGLECT WHICH LED TO DEATH OF MY GERMAN SHEPHERD, PLUS DETERIORATION OF MY HEALTH DUE TO THEIR INTENTIONAL FELONY OF REPORTING FALSE 911 CALL ON HUMAN HEART ATTACK, ON MYSELF!!!

My wife and I have decided to post a very difficult and painful review of Veterinarian Specialty Hospital (VSH) located at 10433 Sorrento Valley Road San Diego, Ca. 92121. Our review is based on our experience, and resulting opinions, from our direct case with VSH. We feel compelled to speak out and share our experiences with VSH to hopefully prevent any further such incidences and as a caveat to other potential patients. In short, our experience with VSH was horrible. Our story can be read in its entirety on Facebook “Bogie Rogers.”

Amazing, caring staff. Miri went out of her way to send records and images to another University in the event Lucy would be a match for a specialized procedure. These people are all about what is best for the pet. Dr. Burke in oncology is brilliant and extremely honest. His knowledge about cancer and all of the latest research is impressive. If you have a pet suffering from cancer I would not hesitate to bring them here.I was blessed to have found this hospital.

We have an 18 year old cat who sadly ate fishing string, we took her to our normal veterinarian office by Twentynine palms California for care....
Unfortunately they our normal veterinarian wasn't available so we had to see a different veterinarian who abused our cat, they kept her in a small cage with no cat litter and put her IV in her leg wrong as well as hurt her private girl part probably with a thermometer we think as she was swollen and cut on her little part.
She also was covered in poop and couldn't lift her head, we we took her in she was playing and ok but when we picked her up she was on deaths door and her eyes rolling in the back of her head and she smelled like a dead cat.
We Rushed her to ( Veterinary Specialty Hospital Of San Diego )
They gave her IV fluids and under went several testing, she ended up staying the day as we kept going in the special room to see and check on her every 3 hour's.
By the end of the day she was healthy and happy and thankful was able to get home.
I highly recommend that you come here as our baby girl was treated with love and respect for care and not just pushed back because of her age.

I thank Veterinary Specialty Hospital for saving our Marry and getting her back home where she belongs, she is back to running the home and doing thing's her way once more.

    Thank you.

VSH prolonged our Baxter's life for 4 years after 3 major liver cancer surgeries. It has to be the greatest place in the world for all sick animals with caring and compassionate staff. Look for Baxter on "the wall".
God bless VSH, the physicians and staff.

I've found it so convenient and helpful to have a Veterinary Hospital that operates near Mira Mesa that can handle any 24-hour emergency for my four Siamese cats. I've brought my cats to this location a handful of times, especially when I couldn't get to my regular veterinarian.

In late February, I recently brought my cat, Mr. Adam Sandler to get treated for a wounded front paw and Dr. Amelia Gould was terrific. She was knowledgeable, caring and compassionate. It makes a huge difference to have such kind service providers when dealing with our loved animals. The vets here understand that our pets are very dear and treated like essential members of the family.

A great perk for the owners is the lovely waiting area, the awesome coffee machine and fully-stocked hospitality bar that is available, while waiting for your pet to get seen or treated.

    I definitely recommend this place.

    Thank you VSH!

My vet referred us over to VHS after my puppy tested positive for parvo. I didn't think to check other places or even look at their reviews because I was in such a panic. When I got there I received an estimate of $2400-$3600 for my pup for 2-3 days of hospitalization, and from the very beginning, I told them that I was a full-time student who didn't have the money to afford this. So I asked for any resources they could recommend; the person working with me said that they have none. I saw a picture in the office about the FACE foundation, so I asked her about that. She said she doesn't know. Why have their info all over your facility then? Afterwards, someone at the front desk came in, Sam, and told me that I could apply for CareCredit. So I did, and I got approved. I proceeded with the hospitalization. On the third day, I came in to talk to the doctor right after work, and I had my other dog with me because she comes to work with me. Sam and Dr. Chow laughed at me because she thought that I was going to bring my other dog upstairs to see my dog with parvo? Are you kidding? Why would I do that? When I asked Sam if she could have the doctor come down to the lobby and talk to me with my dog (because I didn't want to leave her in the car), she said "Only if you don't want to visit Oliver" (Oliver is the name of my dog who has parvo). Excuse me? You're telling me that I can't see my dog during visiting hours? I told Sam that, and she said "Oh, well you can". Lol alright. When I started speaking to Dr. Chow, I was starting to get upset because she kept repeating the same thing over and over to me as if I wasn't understanding her. She had told me to come in, and we would talk. The point I was trying to make the whole time was that I could not afford their treatment. She replied, "there is nothing magical I can do...". Wonderful, I see the genuine care, Dr. Chow. I also found out that my high estimate included the placement of a nasal gastric tube, and when I asked the technician how often dogs with parvo get them, she responded with "almost every one of them do". Umm what? So why is that not included in the basic estimate if everyone gets it?! Why falsely mislead people? Because there's a few instances where dogs don't get them? No, be CLEAR and STRAIGHT FORWARD. I would rather you tell me that most dogs get it, include it in the basic estimate, and then take it off later if my dog didn't need it. At the end of the 3rd day, I was passed my CareCredit limit of $4000--so much for accurate estimates. I was given another estimate for how much it would cost for the 4th and 5th day of treatment: $1500 for the 4th and $2800 for the 5th. This was at about 7-8PM on the 3rd day. 11-12 hours later, I call to tell them I'm discharging my dog. I only live 10 minutes away, so I got there quickly and had to wait almost 2 hours to get my dog. When I was getting ready to leave, I am told that I owe an additional $1017!!!! On top of the $4100 I ALREADY PAID the night before. So let's break this down: original high estimate was for $3600 for 3 days. On the third day I was given an estimate for the 4th day of $1500. My dog was there for a total of 3 days and 7 hours, and I paid $5100!! I transferred my dog to a more affordable vet, and he is doing so much better on way less treatment and medications. He will also be there for 3 days. Guess how much my total is? $650--no, that's not a typo. Man, what the hell was I doing. Now, is VHS's treatment plan the best for some dogs? Of course. For mine? No way. I felt like they were using my dog as a case study. And to add it out there, I found out later that the senior practitioner for my dog, Dr. Chow, was a resident for internal medicine. I mean this women even went on to saying that "euthanasia isn't a wrong choice here" when I told her I couldn't afford their treatment instead of directing me to other resources that could help me pay for the vet bill (which I was later given these resources by my new vet). Don't repeat my mistake. Research on other facilities.

This has been the most amazing first time experience for me. I've never had to take my dog to the er or surgery before and they were so kind and caring. They explained everything to me multiple times so that i knew exactly what was going on. They were so kind to my Danni. This place is amazing. I would highly recommend this place.

In August, 2016 my best friend and soul mate, Phoebe the Basset Hound, had the good fortune to be referred to Dr. Tammy Stevenson, Neurologist. This doctor not only cares about the problem of the day, she genuinely cares about the entire patient and makes every effort to assure the guardian has a complete understanding of the treatment options and recommendations.

The dictionary lacks sufficient superlatives to describe Dr. Stevenson. I hope the problem does not expand, but if it does I know to whom I will go running........:)

I got a bad feeling after waiting 30 from our scheduled appointment. Met with the Doctor which was fine, just didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling and not sure if I trust his opinion (again just a gut feeling). Then had to wait to talk to an oncologist. After a total of an hour in the exam room, I just got up and left,
