Valverde Energy has come to the rescue for Taos Center for the Arts so many times -- they always come within an hour or two after I call, it's usually Paul and Mario, who are pleasant, straightforward and even have a sense of humor (and they don't treat me like a "dumb woman," which I very much appreciate), and they get the work DONE. We have some tricky problems since the Manby House was built in 1898 -- it's not always easy to figure out why a toilet won't flush or a drain is backing up. Paul and Mario are terrific at troubleshooting and finding the root cause. If they have to dig, they dig. If they don't have to dig, they won't do it just to jack up the bill. We don't bother calling any other plumber nowadays, we just call Valverde right away.
Valverde Energy installed a solar hot water system for me in the fall of 2007. Larry Mapes, the owner, suggested I also switch out from propane to natural gas, since it was in the new road adjacent to my property. With those two changes, my gas bill has dropped from about $1200 a year to about $300 a year. That includes heat, which is minimal, since I heat mostly with wood. My gas bill averages $26 a month now, and in the summer (hot water and very little cooking), it is about $13. The solar thermal system paid for itself after 6 years (two years ago), so now my hot water from the sun is actually free!
The customer service is excellent. If I have questions, they are promptly answered. I needed one service call, and Dave came out the same day. Larry set up a payment plan with me, too, so it was painless.
I highly recommend Valverde Energy for solar thermal installations and all your plumbing needs!
As President of Placitas Real Condominium Association I oversaw maintenance and projects on the property. When a new boiler was required in one of the buildings, Valverde Energy did the proper research and provided us with several options. They were respectful, did an excellent and thorough job. The boiler they recommended has saved the association considerable money in heating costs. For the level of expertise and the continued support they were well worth the money.
Awful service, overcharged, did not complete their work on plumbing, initially cancelled their work on propane lines, heating services - after 3 1/2 months of a 15 foot trench with two huge piles of dirt in my kitchen and constant excuses I fired them - next contractor had it done in a week. I've met bad plumbers in Taos before but even the drunk ones showed up on time.
