Most of the speakers in cars of the early 1950's and some of the 1960's were going bad, the demand from Detroit's Big three was more than they could supply.

People needed their speakers fixed and were not willing to be put on a list that might be up to a year long. A group of people received the funding and made a co op of what would later be known as reconing; their funds bought raw materials such as voice coils spiders and Speaker cones. Utah Reconing was one of them, repairing many speakers for customers who were extremely satisfied and grateful that they did not have to wait a long period of time for a factory replacement. Fast forward almost forty years and you have today's Utah Reconing, what was O.E.M. speaker repair is now Vintage Speaker Repair; Matt Shelton, Bought Utah Reconing in 1986 and continued Vintage reconing services as well as adding services such as Antique Radio Speaker Reconing , Jukebox speaker Reconing, Pro Audio speaker Reconing , Home Speaker Repair, and Musical Speaker repair.
