Study rooms are easy to book online and comfortable to use
This library has such a fun kids area. Check out the events calendar and register to learn something new. Lots of fun children's activities.
My daughter loves this library! There are many activities for the little ones.
Great staff, lots of programs offered. Great facility, clean, comfortable and well maintained.
I love reading in the fireplace room on rainy or snowy days. It is very peaceful.
Our favorite library in the Des Moines area! Very nice and a lot of all reading and media to chose from.
Happy patron!
This library is so wonderful! Great kids area, awesome DVDs, computer area, lots of genres represented and great selections in each. Librarians here are top notch.
UPL works hard to be on the cutting edge of information, it is respected by librarians all over the metro.
The are very patient with disabled people and give an atmosphere of peace to patrons.
The politics of this library stem from the reality of life in Iowa, many far right christians attempting to dictate policy.
Having said that another reality in Iowa exists, somewhat like Singapore. Respect the property and people and you will get it in return.
In closing this is my number one overall pick for a library in central Iowa.
Johnston has better architecture.
Central DMPL has way more materials and celebrity events
WDM has the best location
thank you UPL!
This is a pretty good, and still new library. I used to come here somewhat often. It is quiet and fairly large. They also have a small restaurant up front as well.
There are many study tables and study rooms! Very comfortable!
Amazing library with great activities for kids!
UPL is one of the best city libraries in the DSM metro.
A solid neighborhood library with a good book selection and various family and child-oriented sessions. Story time for the youngsters is entertaining and the selection of play things in the kids' area is extensive.
I really enjoyed this library up until yesterday. I had placed a hold on a book for a friend who decided she didn't have time to read it, so I called to take the hold off. They tell me they have to charge a .50 fee for "taking the time to pull the book." I understand this is not much money, but seriously?? What is your job that you are getting paid for then? And if I went to check it out, and dropped it right back off, you'd have to replace it again, but it wouldn't cost me anything. Just another ploy to make money for ridiculous reasons.
