You have to love a State Fair like this. Great Entertainment, so much to see for enthusiasts of all kinds. A good selection of rides with lots of vendors. Plus a great deal of animals. This could use a few more scattered shaded seats for the elderly but was very enjoyable.. It is a must do for everyone.. Oh and you might find it educational as well.. Happy fair going..

Great venue for equipment shows and any other festival. Many different buildings to show farm animals amd crafts. Awesome antique show. Great ice cream. Stadium. Family friendly.

2017 marks the eighth year of operating independent of State funding and our emergence as Michigan’s only State Fair.
The fair is now governed by the Upper Peninsula State Fair Authority with representatives from all fifteen counties in the Upper Peninsula and the Hannahville Indian Community.
Since 1928, the Upper Peninsula State Fair has provided a place for folks from across the nation to experience and celebrate the unique culture and heritage of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The “Fair” remains as unique and wonderful as the people and places found across this marvelous peninsula.
Nowhere is the slogan “Pure Michigan” more suitable than in Escanaba during the annual Upper Peninsula State Fair. Come experience “Pure Fun, Pure Goodness, and Pure Michigan” at the Upper Peninsula State Fair - this year and every year!

This fair was better then Wisconsin State Fair in Milwaukee. We went two days in a row and still didn't see half of what there was to see there. Everything's close together so you don't have to walk a mile to get a bottle of water after going on a ride. The only complaint is parking. There is no parking lot just a small grassy area and it's quite a walk from the fair. There is not enough parking places either so be prepared to walk quite a distance even if you get lucky and get to snatch a spot from someone leaving who was closer to the admission gates. So worth the visit either way!

It always Saturday night races, and the UP State Fair. Third week of August is the best time it's Fair time.
