Description

Anthropology is the study of humans and human diversity across time and space. Our research and teaching emphasize the causes, persistence, and consequences of human diversity. Our approach is integrative and holistic across the sub-disciplines of archaeology, biological anthropology, and cultural anthropology and we have strong instructional ties with many programs--Classics and Religious Studies, Ethnic Studies, Environmental Studies, Great Plains Studies--at UNL and at the state and federal level.

We have strength in archaeology, evolutionary anthropology, medical anthropology, Native American studies, and applied-development anthropology. We are the only program in the world to offer instruction in the Omaha language at the collegiate level. We offer the BA and BS degrees at the undergraduate level and the MA at the graduate level. In addition, we offer specialized masters programs in Ethnic Studies, Envrionmental Studies, Great Plains Studies, Professional Archaeology and Women and Gender's Studies.
