Description

Whether your support is by way of individual giving, employee giving, corporate giving, sponsorship programs, Small Business Partnership or volunteer time, take pride in knowing your donations make a real difference in our community. In the last year, United Way of North Central Florida put your contributions
and grant dollars to work in the following ways:

Health
• The 2nd Annual Super Sealant Saturday, a day organized by UF Dental students, provided free dental care to 161 children ages 6-17 years old in the north central Florida area.
• The FamilyWize Prescription Drug Program was used for drug discounts 18,408 times and resulted in a total local savings on prescription drugs of $461,687.

Education
• By focusing on programs that strengthen families and prepare children to maximize learning opportunities, the
programs we fund work toward increasing the high school graduation rate to 90% by 2018.
• Since 2012, ReadingPals Literacy Initiative has matched over 600 students with reading mentors, totaling 11,000 extra reading hours throughout the years. This equals roughly
$250,000 in volunteer time and a priceless amount of one-on-one positive adult interaction with children who need it most.
• Free books are distributed through 27 Book Nooks in our community, helping to increase the number of books in the homes of all citizens.
• Check & Connect’s original high school cohort graduated 42 at-risk students in 2016.
• Between July 2015-June 2016, United Way of North Central Florida collected and distributed 44,461 books.

Income
• 2-1-1 was able to assist 19,459 local residents by connecting them to housing, utility, free tax preparation, services, food services and medical resources.
• In 2015, 2-1-1 connected the families of 750 children with United Way’s Toys for Tots program.
•The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program serviced 1,942 community members and made more than $3.8 million in community impact by providing $3,338,298 in tax refunds and $464,138 in paid tax preparer fees saved.
