We train students to be both crafters and evaluators of messages, offering both bachelor's and master's degrees. The two undergraduate majors are Strategic Communication and Mass Communication. Of these, concentrations include: Advertising, Public Relations, Organizational Communication, Broadcasting, and Journalism. Our undergraduate mass communication and public relations programs are accredited by ACEJMC, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. Our graduate program emphasizes theory and research methods. Graduate study brings student to the edge of the known world, and empowers them to extend that edge by contributing to knowledge. Graduate tracks offered include Thesis, Professional Project, and Comprehensive Exams.Our department is based in Burke-Hawthorne Hall, which is immediately adjacent to Cypress Lake, the most scenic landmark on campus. Our broadcasting sequence gives students access to high-definition cameras and editing equipment in V. L. Wharton Hall (next door).
