It's a pretty small base, but has all the amenities you would expect.
It was my first duty station in the U.S AirForce. I have a good experiences and memories there.
I am biased because I was stationed here from 2009 to 2015 so it will always be a special place to me. But the truth remains that this base is poorly managed compared to many and could use some more amenities for the Airmen, Soldiers, and Civilians here.
Enjoyed the airshow but leaving the "parking lot" was chaos. There were people there that I am guessing were supposed to be guiding traffic but they were just standing around.
Despite that small thing I would highly recommend going.
Went to May 21st air show today and as usual the Thunderbirds are terrific but the traffic/people control is not well managed or understood by the young men and women trying to direct the public. Two direct comments are that it is not uniformly understood by the security personnel where the public should and should not be able to stand and sit in adjacent parking lots outside the security entrance area where people's possessions are searched. We were standing in the adjacent parking lot where many cars were parked near the security entrance and many security personnel had passed by in golf carts when one security person said to get out of the parking lot until the Thunderbirds had taken off. So I missed the take off even though most people did not move. Toward the end of the show two other couple we were with were all sitting in lawn chairs out of the sun in a very nice open hanger building (lots of motorcycles parked there) a long distance from the main show area when a female guard in a golf cart told everyone to vacate the area even though the show was not over. So we were forced to leave the show 10 minutes before it was over for some unknown reason. Very poor crowd control and will not go back anytime soon.
This a lovely base! It is efficient and friendly and appears to be well run! I have enjoyed going to base since I was a child with my wonderful grandparents! My Great Aunt also worked here until I was 16.
