Every one is phenomenal. Dr. Rai is a tremendous surgeon. He is very knowledgeable. He performed a procedure on me yesterday. I am feeling so much better. He is one of the best doctors I've ever seen. Dr. Singh was incredible too. All the staff in both the ER and ICU were the most caring attentive compassionate staff ever. Gilbert RN in ER. Jason, Rhianna, Melissa, Emily in ICU are just incredible. I've been several times. And each time has truly been positive experiences. I won't go anywhere else. Thank you all for making me feel like I mattered. *************************************
Well updated status. 12/11/17 - I was very happy with the staff UNTIL November 14th. I was scheduled for surgery on Nov 28th. Dr. Rai, my doc was on board and ready to go, he is and always has been super awsome. The other attending physician(who needs to learn from Dr. Rai bedside manner), very different story, very different level of professionalism. He decided to take the day off. Then when they rescheduled, it turns out they rescheduled it on a day that the office is closed. Very incompetent to do so. Now the date they are offering is my birthday, two months after the original date. Are you kidding me?!?! This is costing me a lot of current income due to my only being able to work part-time, and the added expense of all the gauze, dressings, tape, and other assorted supplies needed to get through the day. Everyday this gets put off, I go further into debt. And the worst part? The staff "apologizes for any inconvenience ". How patronizing. An inconvenience is your food being wrong. An inconvenience is knocking on your neighbor's door asking for a jump start on your car. An inconvenience is having to walk an extra aisle or two in the parking lot because it's full. I am so angry I have not answered their calls to reschedule. I do not wish to say anything I will regret. I am EXTREMELY UNHAPPY!
It started out a promising health center but my mom has had some terrible experiences here. Her cardiologist fell asleep during an appointment once and, recently, she showed her primary care doctor some spots on her hand. He completely dismissed them. Well, I took her to a dermatologist who just called to say that the biopsy showed they were pre-cancerous. If she'd had trusted her primary care doctor she wouldn't have bothered to get them checked and ended up with full blown skin cancer.
As a retired Nurse Practitioner I have very strong opinions about hospitals and the care rendered in them. I can truly say that thr UNM Sandoval County Regional hospital is by far the most outstanding hospital I have ever been in. If I was still working it would be an honor to be affiliated with this facility.
A HEARTFELT THANK YOU TO THE following doctors, nurses, lab staff and all employed with whom I had the honor to meet, INCLUDING JUANA, WHO WAS PART OF Housekeeping!
DR. NIKKI PARKER -RAY, M.D.
DR. SUSAN SHOWERS, M.D.

My elderly mother has been going to UNM Sandoval for primary care for quite some time. A few weeks ago she received a letter that her primary care doc was going to bail on his patience. (Dr. Fleg) And a new primary care would be assigned in December or January of 2018. Completely unacceptable treatment and quality of care. For someone who suffers from extreme high blood pressure, for no one to see any urgency with this is ridiculous. Stay away from this hospital and medical offices. The staff as well as doctors are mediocre at best. Staff is rude and very very unhelpful. If.anything happens to my mom I will sue this terrible hospital and doctor Fleg. STAY AWAY. Look for something better.
Received the worst care by any emergency room hospital I’ve ever been to. Charge Nurse Samantha Chavez was absolutely lazy, she never once got up from her chair to assist her colleagues, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I arrived to the ER only one other person was in the waiting room and she wasn’t even a patient waiting to be seen she was a family memeber waiting to be let back to be with her sick loved one. I waited an hour in the waiting room and had other people that arrived after myself taken back before me, 3 people to be exact. Finally I was takin back only to be put in a hall bed and ignored. I waited an additional 3 hrs once in hall bed never had an IV started, blood drawn, NOTHING was done for me. I ended up leaving SRMC and going to rust medical center where I received a full work up, was treated like a human with people that had compassion and truly cared for there patients. After a thorough work up from Dr. Corriz and his supporting staff I was diagnosed with IBD, ulcer colitis, and chrons. It truly is a shame that SRMC didn’t care enough to help. SHAME ON YOU SRMC and ED staff! You should be embarassed. I recommend if you’re sick NEVER to go to this hospital. Samantha Chavez SHAME ON YOU! Take pride in your work or maybe find another profession.
Wouldn't recommend this place for anyone's loved ones!! Went to the ER the nurse (Sherry Flores) was very rude and made us feel very uncomfortable and called my husband a liar when he was telling her HIS medical history and my husband who by the way is a palliative care patient, when we asked for a different nurse she yelled at us that we don't get to pick and choose our nurse and that she's our nurse and she then told us to LEAVE and called security who she lied to saying that my husband was throwing stuff at her. I asked for her supervisor (samantha chavez) and when Samantha came in she didn't care to hear our side of the story and just automatically took her coworker side and didn't even try to resolve the situation she just came in and made it worst. There is no patient rapport, no compassion, nothing!!! They don't care if you live or die as long as they get paid and have their way.
Evangeline H, Physical Therapist = There is NONE better.
Nothing we did to get the swelling of the Left Leg down worked UNTIL I saw Evangeline. She worked with me and she got the swelling down. She is a Marvel. Her patient skills are amazing, Her work is wonderous.
I highly recommend Physical Therapy with Evangeline.
Where do I start?? I was scheduled for a procedure on 5/22, the insurance paperwork I received with the pre-auth, on 5/18 did not match what Dr. Jeppson and I had discussed was to be the procedure. I was somewhat confused. I made several (like 6) attempts to call the clinic, on 5/19, and speak with someone regarding this? NOBODY ever called me back!!! I finally received a call, on 5/22, when I was already on my way to Albuquerque, as I live 2 hours away I was nervous and worried that somebody had made a mistake on the procedure, not a good feeling!!! When I finally got there, I was put at ease by Dr. Jeppson and staff. Procedure went well, stayed the night and staff was very nice. However, something else came up. My family was planning a 3 day trip to Carlsbad, beginning Sunday 6/4. Since I was already 13 days post-op, I really wanted to make this 6 hour drive, but wasn't sure if it would be ok. Again, I called several times to the clinic, for instruction, and clearance. Only to be transferred in circles
To no avail, I did receive a callback from a staff member who couldn't answer the question, "was I ok to travel". Needless to say, very disappointed in staff and the fact that they also stated that they would do a follow-up call when I got home, that never happened! Well, I feel like I am up to this trip, and I hope I don't relapse. So thank you to all who didn't call back!!!!
Don't know how anything gets done at this hospital it's a nightmare from hell trying to make an appointment. You get transferred 6 times every session, nobody knows what area does what or who you're supposed to talk to. Almost every single person on this building is rude, they don't know how to use technology at all. It's a simple microphone people, keep it 3" from your mouth you don't need to swallow it and deafen people or have it a foot away and sound like a mouse in a bank vault. I don't know why they ask for a medical record number because it doesn't help them do anything at all. The imbeciles ask me for a referral when everything has been done inside this hospital. You would think that's a golden referral. Nope apparently you have to find the mysterious person who gives referrals. Nobody knows who that is though. You can't bother anyone to ask or they will bite your head off because they hate their jobs or something. Not sure what it is but why in the hell would you trust this creepy ass hospital to cut you open is beyond me.
Nice individuals but it's a big medicine facility and I always felt like a number rather than a person. Very crowded all the time.
I recommend you stay away and don't do business in Rio Rancho. The city makes money with speed and stop-light cameras. Don't support a city that makes its revenue that way.
I received very good care here. It is emergency, and so you might wait for a long time, but the staff is very good and worth waiting for.
