  Man made island built for those determined beer lovers who swim from city to Alewife NYC as a halfway rest point. @AlewifeNYC has the beer and food to make many take the swim across! 5/14 51st Ave

  The 1/2 acre man-made island was created by William Steinway in an attempt to build underwater tunnels between Manhattan and Steinway Village in Astoria. Today the tunnels are used by the 7 train.
