We brought a group of 7 Girl Scouts and their mothers to the Twin Lakes this past weekend and stayed at the Hill Lodge. The accommodations were perfect for our plans! Loved the extra seating around tables in the common space as well as the private, wooded backyard. Plenty of parking and liked the bedroom accommodations for providing privacy for sleeping. Only thing we had to work around was top bunks do NOT have railings so girls (ages 11-12) were kept to bottom bunks as they didn't feel comfortable sleeping up there and moms were kept to bottom bunks. And keep in mind that the cabin bathroom is all you get...there is not a shared camp bathroom on that side of the park. We throughly enjoyed our hike on Otter's Path as well as enjoyed our time on Lake Goodwin, paddling around on kayaks! Also took advantage of the archery program that day and that was where we met, Jack, who works for the park. He was great with our group of girls!! Knowledgeable, a good teacher, and friendly for sure! We later joined him at Campfire stories and he brought extra things to 'show and tell'! Jack is a true asset to the park! We will consider coming back next year!
Great place for a small wedding. Really nice cabins. Nice trails for walking, very scenic.
This park was great! I didn't see any other guests while I was there, but I hiked all around the Goodwin Lake and then took the trail over to the other lake as well. It was a beautiful day. The trails were marked very well and it was easy to navigate, as most of the VA State Parks I've visited have been! The ranger in the office was friendly.
It's beautiful place didn't get to see much it was cold but it looks like a great place to swim camp cook out play games. It looks great coming back this spring. Mabe do so camping
Spent this past weekend in one of the cabins at the state park. Upon arrival, we were very happy with the quality and cleanliness of the cabin. The cabin had been left at a warm temperature by the staff and the cabinets were stocked with the things we'd need to cook for two, and there were plenty of towels and clean bedding. The trails were clean and well marked and we will definitely be returning. Perfect for a quick weekend get-away!
I was one of the camphosts at twin lakes in October 2017. They have the friendliest staff and I would recommend this place to anyone. I hope to host here again in the future. You won't regret being here.
Great visit. Wonderful staff and will certainly return. Than you all. 👍🏻
Cabins are rather old and made of cinder block. Nice lake and close to some good trails. They tell you not to bring firewood and then provide only nonseasoned (green ) firewood.
Very clean sandy lake. Great place for kids to swim and play. The lifeguards are fantastic.
Great state park! Campsites were awesome and the showers-bathrooms were very clean.. fishing was ok and the park staff were great!
A very nice park with excellent staff. Camping here is ideal so you can spend a few days. The beach area at one of the lakes has a fantastic kids play area separate from the main swimming area. It would be 5 stars but some of the hiking trails were very, very overgrown. All in all an awesome Virginia State Park.
Absolutely adore this place! Perfect summer outing at an affordable prive for the entire family. Cant waite to make more memories with my family here!
Nice trails and lakes. Some good spots for fishing. Campground is small but tidy. Friendly Rangers and nice little gift shop.
Great camp site with no light pollution. Top quality clean bathrooms, spacious camp sites with fire pit, table and electric hook up.
Beautiful two lakes, great staff, a nice swimming area and a decent conference center. Soon they'll have camping cabins too!
This is a small and quaint camp ground. Great for tents to small trailers. Not the best for RV's. Two of the four available are ok. Other 2 not level enough and no space between rig and road. You can't reserve specific site so your choice may be limited by the time you get here. The park over all is nice and clean and there is plenty to do fot the family.
we were 1st time visitors to twin lakes . 8/8/16 we enjoyed fishing, hiking we found the staff very helpful, an friendly. there was one thing that stood out was the clean showers an restrooms.the people that were cleaning then checked them several times a day. Nice and peaceful, very enjoyable
The Millers
Very nice. Nice, wide, well-maintained trails and both lakes provide a good view. Hopped in to go swimming and had a nice time. If I had one thing to change, I'd like to see more reassurance blazes on the hiking trails. There are markers but some of them are faded and difficult to spot. The path itself is not overgrown so it's usually easy to find but at points where trails break apart, some additional signage would be nice.
