  We arrived on Sunday for our check in to The Salty Dog. Unfortunately our stay has been less than satisfactory.
  Upon our arrival we waited outside of the house because the cleaners were still in the house cleaning until after 4pm. There was supposed to be travel toiletries in the bathrooms and there were none. There is not a broom or a vacuum to be found in the house anywhere. The furnishings in the main living room are soiled and stained. The pool was filthy -debris, dead crabs, scummy film on top and clearly had not been cleaned. The hot tub also had sand all in it and had also clearly not been cleaned. Cigarette butts on all the decks, around the pool, flies in the house and dead bugs covering all of the windows and sliding doors.
  First thing Tuesday morning the air conditioning stopped working and we called immediately and left messages before Twiddy even opened. We called back to speak to someone after opening time and were told someone would be here before lunch to check on it and We needed to be near the house because the Workman wouldn’t come in without us home since we had dogs. The Workman - a Twiddy employee finally showed up at 2pm and then said he couldn’t fix it that someone else would have to be called. The next air person came around 4pm and also couldn’t fix it. After 5pm another air company and Twiddy showed up - this air person said he could fix it but it would be the next day. The Twiddy employee came to install 2 window air units. So one whole day of vacation burned.
  The next day, we were told the air guy would be back around lunch to fix it and we needed to be at the house again because of the dogs ( 2 14.5 year old miniature dachshunds 8 and 10 lbs each). They came, they fixed it, we left to try to recover from the 1.5 days out 6 that we had lost due to these issues. We came home last night and walked up to the entry door and it was standing WIDE OPEN. We had been gone for about 7 hours. We were scared to death and concerned about our dogs. My husband checked the house and thankfully no one was in the house and our dogs were still there BUT the two window units were the Twiddy had installed were gone.
  So after telling us that no one would enter the house without us being there because of the dogs Twiddy entered the house without us there and without notifying us to remove the ac units and left the door standing wide open for god knows how many hours. I am sick just thinking about what could have happened and am grateful that it didn’t.
  I am extremely disappointed and displeased with this experience and the recklessness exhibited. We have called numerous times and have not received a satisfactory response to date.
  After no response and then posting on their Facebook page they said they were “researching the issue” and would have a manager reach out to us. It is now 2 full days later and not a word from anyone at Twiddy.
  Our vacation was ruined because of their actions. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering renting from Twiddy look elsewhere. What really counts is how a company handles an issue when it arises and works to resolve it quickly. Twiddy’s actions were downright negligent and they seem to not even care.

  When checking in to our 4x4 Beach Rental House, the man and woman behind the desk were very helpful and knowledgeable about driving on the beach. They even offer a station to put air in your tires after driving on the beach. Overall a great experience renting a house through Twiddy.

  Pictures & description are misleading for All is Whale. Also, upon arrival the house and surrounding grounds weren't clean. The refrigerator smelled of fish, the ice maker didn't work and there were bugs flying around the house. We called Twiddy to have somebody come out and fix the ice make but no one ever came. TV didn't work either. The bedding was misrepresented. The top and middle floor were accurate and nice. The lower or bottom floor were horrible. The mattress in the bunk bed rooms were about 4 inches thick and you felt the springs. Even the young kids said they were uncomfortable. When a mattress is folded in half, as these were, then you know they aren't decent mattresses. One bunk bed room was suppose to have a trumble bed and it didn't. In the bunk bed rooms, if you do use the Trumble bed it consumes all the space in the room. So if you have 3 people in there, there's nowhere to put your luggage and there's nowhere to walk around. There's about a foot space between the bottom bunk and the trumbull bed that's pulled out. There is a dresser in the room but the Trumble bed is pushed up against the wall and the dresser because that's the only way it can fit. My advice in these rooms, you can have two small people on the bottom bunk & one on the top but that's about the max that you can have realistically in that room. And if you're an average sized adult it's going to be very uncomfortable. The good about this house is its location. You are one block from the beach. Literally right around the corner from the beach access which is fantastic. The house can hold a lot of people and the main floor with the Decks are very accommodating to a large crowd, as we had 25. It's just the sleeping situation that isn't really as it is portrayed in the ad. My best advice is find another house if sleeping and cleanliness are important.

  Rented 2 houses in Corolla for a family reunion of 30 people. Pelican Watch and Nesting Place in the Ocean Sands community. Both were great location to the beach (even though they weren't beach front). Houses were clean and had plenty of amenities. Twiddy's online rental process made it super easy to complete payments and sign leases. Check-in was also quick 5 minute stop into the Corolla Twiddy office. I'd definitely rent through them again.

  Twiddy has been a great Realty company for our family. The houses are always clean and decently appointed. They have the best website for searching houses in the entirety of the Outer Banks. All in all a great experience every year we've used them (8 of 10 years now).

  I can't say it enough, the Twiddy folks are hands down the best in the business. This was my third trip to the Outer Banks, and third experience with Twiddy. The home was immaculate, tons of space, an excellent view, and amazing weather. Twiddy's hospitality really impressed me. Even with the recent hurricane, they went above and beyond my expectations. Already planning our next trip!!

  After several rentals and years of working with other rental companies, Twiddy is by far the best. Responsive, courteous, competent, and welcoming are just a few adjectives used to describe this team. Mary, who greeted us upon arrival was PHENOMENAL! I needed to print something out and all area print shops were closed, the team was accommodating and went above and beyond. We stayed at a rental during Trop. Storm Hermine and the communications about being safe and what to expect were invaluable. I would not hesitate to book all future vacation with Twiddy and team.

  Rented Oceans Grace on Lighthouse Road. July 23 to July 30 2016. Absolutely loved every minute of it. Super clean. A few things need repair like refrigerator, strove and bar stool but maintenance was out immediately. Joy, the owner, called to make sure our week was going well and was super accommodating. Plenty of room for 21 people and it never felt crowded. Pool was awesome and plenty of parking. Everything you need is here including beach chairs and toys. Nice grill. Bikes need some work though. Very kid friendly. Walk to beach was maybe two
  Minutes. We loved the pool table! Thank you for a great week!

  I have stayed in the Outer banks more than a dozen times and enjoyed many lovely homes there. This particular house was well decorated and provided the expected necessities. The pool was nice and clean, and the walk to the beach was easy. However the steep, curvy driveway was a definite hazard and totally unexpected. Every time we backed out (no room to turn around) our cars veered off into an overgrown drop- off! The house was not clean by any measure. We found several dead mice and droppings in the garage where the beach chairs/umbrella were stored, as well as water running from the ceiling, and did notify the agency. They did say they fixed the leak, but did nothing about the mice or droppings, which were scattered about the garage. There were blood stains on the dust ruffle and nearby carpeting in the 3rd floor bedroom. The showers/ Jacuzzis in this room and one on the second floor had a high, narrow step that was dangerous to use, especially for children. There were also dead insects scattered on the carpeting throughout the house. This property could use improvements.

  We enjoyed our recent vacation in the Outer Banks. The home at 1142 Ocean Trail exceeded our expectations in its size, condition, amenities and proximity to the beach. The home is an upscale property with a beautiful view of the ocean and is fully furnished for a great stay.
  We had privacy because the homes are spread out along the trails.
  The wild horses were present every day and we enjoyed watching them. One even has a colt that is still nursing.
  I would definitely recommend this property and the Outer Banks for a wonderful family vacation and would rent this home again.
