It is a beautiful, quiet gem of a park that is nice to visit any time of the year. A raised boardwalk allows visitors to experience and appreciate the Bald Cypress/Atlantic White Cedar swamp from above and access the cool waters of Turkey Creek. It is especially nice to visit in the summertime as the waters are cool and swift, and act like a natural lazy river. Lots of fun!
Great place to walk, swim, canoeing tube. The area has rear rooms and is patrolled for security. IT IS ALL FREE.
I walk here about every other month or so and it's very peaceful and quiet! Such a great place to go to get away from the "city" life to walk and take in fresh air!
Approximately a year ago I had an incident with one of the Security Guards And my Service Dog. I haven't stepped foot back in that City since.
Until today. With fear and trepidation I slowly checked the parts out, seeing if HE was there. Never saw him.
Eventually got out and spoke with one of the employees. It seems they be since better educated their staff on Service Dogs and A.D.A. rights.
(If you have a therapy or emotional support dog/animal the law does not protect the animal the same as a service dog).
I got a really good feeling again. Made me feel like All my time vested with the City and Community to make it a better place, and the sacrifice It took on me, it's nice to know I can come back in peace.
I just want to be able to take a quite stroll through the board walk, but I can't function without my S.D. in public. I know feel much better that the City has taken steps to resolve this matter.
Niceville is now back on my list of places to consider living in (again). I hope one day to return to the community and continue to find different ways of continuing to contribute back to the community, and now I feel safe enough that I won't be harassed for my disability or disability aides.
Thank You for turning the parks back into what Niceville is supposed to be all about, Nice folks!
Recently found this place after living here for a year. Great boardwalk for walking and enjoying nature. The best thing is the spring fed creek which has a swift current of pristine cool spring water to kayak or tube down the creek. Swimming in this creek is so refreshing and thereaputic. My body feels good for several days after taking a dip. I consider this as a highly recommended place to go.
Who doesn't love Turkey Creek? The park is so well kept, the water is cool and it's all FREE! There are always funnpeople hanging around. A real community treasure.
This was one of the best places we came to from our vacation to FL! Very nice board trail with some stops to take a dive! You can also canoe or use floaters at a starting point and be carried by the current! Would recommend coming at noon when critters won't bother coming out since you do swim at your own risk.
Great place to cool off! There are plenty of tables and fans under the pavilion! I can't believe I've lived here for so long and didn't realize about this awesome place.
The Turkey Creek Park boardwalk has been finished and makes for a great place to go running or walk. If you get too hot you can just get into cool water running through the creek. They even have a place designated to remember lost loved ones.
A lovely two mile walk or run with shade and plenty of rest spots along Turkey Creek. Clean restrooms and cold drinking water is available at either end. Be sure to stop and look for snakes, birds and possibly a gator. The spring fed creek runs at a good pace and is refreshingly cold. Lots of folks swim and float it's clear water in the summer.
The water is icy and will take your breath away but it is so fun!!
We stayed in Destin and made the trip up here and it was well worth it! It was a beautiful place to walk. We brought our swim suits and floaties and floated down the creek. It was a lot of fun and free! Highly recommend.
Love this place..my boys and I enjoyed the nature walk and sitting by the water!
Beautiful place. Nature lovers need to go here. Many wonderful things to see. Nice large path. Lovely views.
I can tell this place is special. There are so many different ways you can interact with nature and people here. It felt like a place to meet a new friend or renew a bond with an old one. Also good for a brisk workout. Would love to return when the weather is warmer and actually float down the creek. Heaven!
