I have seen different types of shows and overall not a bad seat if you stay toward the corners to midsection.
Very comfortable seating and nice atmosphere. The volunteer Usher's are helpful and friendly. The only problem is they difficulty of parking. We used to use a parking garage but it is now closed to the public for some reason.
I saw many shows and plays here on the last year and I really enjoyed. It is a great place to visit with family or friends.
TPAC was a great place to see Jesus Christ superstar I hope they don't close soon
Acoustics are pretty good. Whether sitting close or in the back, goos sight lines and sound. Concessions could stand an upgrade, as they only serve packaged snacks. Nice clean place with courteous staff
Great venue for concerts! Lovely people working there! Good parking!
This is a great venue. I enjoy performing here as well as watching performances!
The lower level is great for a wedding reception or other classy event. Very nice.
Great place for a concert or entertainment event. Slopped seating so there are no bad seats. Very cool bulding since it's been redone. We always enjoy attending events at TPAC
Good shows, nice looking venue. Would like to major acts here, though.
Came to see the Celtic Woman. The people are nice and I'll tell ya, its like hearing life bloom through the sound of music. Its true to think you are hearing the voices of Angels. You can feel the energy that is put into their music. And not many people in my age group of 20-28 come to this for some reason. You guys are missing out :)
The venue is of average quality. The new owners have done a good job trying to maintain a good appearance and wait staff are decent. Much of the paint, carpets, etcetera are a little dated. The bathrooms are clean and well-kept. The entryway is of average quality and visual appeal. The lighting is decent in corridors.
Regarding performances, lighting is average to above-average, sound quality is average to above-average, and set production values of average quality in my opinion.
I went to see a show with my Sunday school class. Not many people came to see the show so the staff told us we could move from the balcony to the main floor.
The seating and restrooms were clean. The crowd was well behaved being older people.
If you want close, free parking, there is a city parking lot across the street to the east. This is where the locals park. It looks secluded but I've never been broken into or had a problem walking to or from that parking lot. There is sufficient lighting. There is a parking garage to the west of TPAC and metered parking all around.
I heard that TPAC was where you would see circus's and the like but those shows moved out to the Expo center on 21st street. TPAC had been extensively remodeled to what it looks like today.
Topeka's only option for Ballet, Orchestra, etc Smallish Performance Arts center - and they need to re-consider the layout of restrooms (Women's on one side of the building, men's on the other) as they only offer 1 of each type to patrons
Connected to other state government buildings
If you want to see the Oak Ridge Boys, a tribute band, or other family country act then woo hoo. If you want to see a cutting edge rock act or a good classic rock act head down the road to Salina. Their theater featured Graham Nash, Gordon Lightfoot and other quality acts this year.
Very disappointing. My daughter and son-in-law wanted there wedding to take place there, so unorganized and disrespectful Were made promises that were NOT kept by UPPER MANAGEMENT My son-in-law was called a BAD name in writing. The wedding was booked in Jan 2015 @ bridal fair, was told they had the date set Oct 2015 Hmmm, tried calling to pay and set times up to visit the venue - would get no calls back (emails promising contract in the mail) NEVER HAPPENED!! A month before the wedding received a call stating they overbooked the night of her rehearsal. Hmmmm Rehearsal & Wedding we had but unorganized and very disrespectful. Need NEW MANAGEMENT!!! BEWARE OF TPAC!!! It is no wonder we do not have great things happening in TPAC!! BEWARE!!!! Will never use or visit again!!!
Enjoyed the Mannheim Steamroller show on Dec. 21, 2015. Venue is older, but seems well kept. Performance was great! Only complaint was during intermission the lobby and bathrooms smelled very strong of cigarette smoke despite the fact the building was "NO SMOKING". Otherwise, the experience was enjoyable. Oh, and the Westboro Baptist Church was on the south side entrance protesting something ridiculous as people were coming in, so we just used the west entrance. What a shame, but that has nothing to do with the Topeka Performing Arts Center or the Mannheim Steamroller show. Once inside the building, a good time was had by all!
