What makes a family business special? Many things, but in our case, one important aspect is the extended “family” that is part of the company. Pictured here are company owner Mr. Togar, rug repair expert Mr. Imen, and retired rug shop owner Mr. Sumer. They have been friends since their 20s when they lived in Istanbul, and have supported each other both personally and professionally for decades. Not to mention they love to play backgammon together! Thanks @nancytogar123 for capturing this special friendship.

Here in Asheville we just received a new shipment of vintage Turkish rugs, and this one is so interesting! Check our the third picture to see the names of the family members who made the rug and date (1972) knotted in on to the design! Also written on the rug is the phrase “buyu run” which is Turkish for “welcome” or “go ahead”. Come see us at the warehouse to check out these fascinating pieces and hear the history from our Turkish staff members!
