I love the Ship Inn because it is a cool place to hang out in the sleepy town of Milford. I like the beer some of the times. The food is pretty hit or miss. I think I mostly miss, but it is English food so maybe it is that way by design? People do love the fish and chips, which I always skip out on, as I try not to eat too much fried food. Last night I had a Ribeye. It was cooked perfect on the inside, but the taste was straight up terrible. It was really charred on the outside and just tasted like burnt carbon. The sides were waffle fries and onion rings. Tasty, but deadly. I would have rather had anything else. The salad was ok, but the dressing was super vinegary and not that flavorful. Desert on the other hand was super good. I would go there just to get the Apple crumble with ice cream. In the old days the wings and burgers were fantastic. The Sheppard Pie has come and gone. I have no idea how it currently is. But despite my ripping of the steak, this is a great place to check out. And who knows, maybe you will love your steak that way.

Came here by chance later on a Sunday afternoon. Had a cozy seat in the front window looking out on to the street. Was pleasantly surprised by the menu. Scotch egg was an awesome treat. Was feel'n fat and happy with the Cornish Pasty. Enjoyed the traditional, down to earth atmosphere.

Food is average and overpriced, and portions are small. The beer brewed on the premises used to be quite good at one time, but over the years has fallen in quality to the extent that it rarely surpasses craft beers readily available in many other bars in the area. Service was never very good at any time; however, people went there for the British style beers and food, especially when it was NJ's only brewpub. Sadly, most brewpubs now easily beat the Ship Inn in beer and food quality.

Had the shepherds pie and while the dish was tasty, it was the size of an appetizer. No value realized there. My wife had the fish and chips which she said was also quite tasty. 2 good size pieces of fish. They seemed to be out of a number of things which for my first time here was not very encouraging.

Nice quaint spot with some good vegetarian options. Their Fish and Chips is also amazing! I recommend trying some of the local brews and if you really like something then you can get a growler to go.

for connoisseurs of truly English beers this is the best you will find East of the Mississippi. Stop by and slow down a little, happy hour is very popular also and has discounted pints and bar food. Try the Ribbon Fries.
