Surgery suffers from a communication problem. For most people, surgery is a walled off mystery that they fear more than they understand. Even within the field, the most obvious questions on how we can better take care of our patients and ourselves often do not get answered. While this type of content is valuable, it is often absent from traditional academia, leaving individuals to seek out answers on their own. So, we started The Modern Surgeon in the Spring of 2022 as a media company focused on communication related to all things surgery. We are focused on providing content that can spark conversations and exchange of ideas across many diverse areas such as wellness, diversity, culture, performance, family, fitness, nutrition, ergonomics, and sleep, just to name a few. Our content is highly pragmatic, specific, and timely. It is free, and creatively incorporates multimedia to engage with younger generations. We strongly believe that this type of content belongs in our field, and needs to be shared. So follow the movement today!
