This was fantastic. The beer was great, try the "Death to Flying Things" Barrelaged Russia Imperial Stout (caution of the kick!). The pizza flight is an awesome value at $25.99 for 6 of the specialty pizzas. They do have ciders and wines available too.
Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave us some space to check out the menu but helped with any questions we had.
Some very nice baseball decor, the outdoor seating area looks decent sized for the nicer months. The building is more historic with a lot of exposed brick on the interior. There is a limited amount of free parking in the rear and a handicapped entrance on the side.
All around a great experience, this should be on your places to visit for local breweries.
Historic fire hall transformed to a well respected craft brewery. Multi floor beautiful location. Amazing selection of beers and their pizza is absolutely stellar. From young to old, alone or groups Mitten is a great destination spot for a bite, beer and good times
When life gets me down, all I need is a vegan deluxe pizza and cheesy vegan breadsticks from the mitten and I am happy again. Seriously This place has the best pizza I've ever eaten!! It's a little pricey but way worth it. And they serve it with vegan ranch too that is divine. I'd rate this more stars if I could!! Thanks for being inclusive and having amazing food!
Tons of atmosphere and excellent pizza. My favorite is the margherita pizza which is done perfectly, no corners cut! Their hard ciders keep me coming back as well. The offerings change seasonally, but the berry ones (raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry) are my favorites.
Only downside is parking there isn't any. About ten cramped spaces in back and everyone else fights for street parking. Still worth it.
Last weekend was our first stop in Mitten Brewing Company and we were blown away! All of the beers in our flight were extremely tasty, the pumpkin IPA was out of this world. We are from the Detroit area and I would kill someone in front of their own mama to buy that pumpkin IPA in a store near me. Really good pizza but man, I wish that burgers and fries were offered on the menu it, there are not many things in life more beautiful than an awesome beer with an equally awesome burger to go with. We will return the next time that we are in the area for sure!
Dined today (8-11-17) at around 1:30pm.
We dined outside, there was a gust of wind, and an umbrella flew off a table adjacent to ours and hit me, and I now have bruises on my back. I was, thankfully, not impaled (the bottom of the umbrella rod landed on me). I understand unforeseen things can happen, but the (very apologetic) server said told us the table/umbrella were already known to be broken. For that reason, 2 out of 5 stars.
Update 10/19/2017: I gave the restaurant another shot, I did not like the Mediterranean pizza at all. The primary topping, by volume, is the semi-raw, unchopped garlic, assaulting your pallet while you chew endlessly on the thick dough. I have tried many Mediterranean pizza variations, and The Mitten Brewing Company’s is a different proposition altogether.
Stopped here for lunch during a trip through Grand Rapids last week. Beer selection was awesome and the atmosphere/service was very warm and inviting. I ordered the BBQ pizza which features pulled pork from the local joint across the street. Honestly it was one of the best pizzas I've had recently. Would 100% recommend.
Didn't eat there tonight because the host flat out lied when we called in advance and told us no wait. We drove over (5 minutes) and there was huge line of people that had been waiting for some time. Good food, decent beer, but dishonest staff. Not as likely to return.
5* is not enough. There pizza flights are awesome - $25 for your choice of 6 flavors. Neat atmosphere - old fire house. We enjoyed sitting upstairs.
I love the atmosphere here. The design and baseball theme are great. Plenty of room and outdoor seating. This pizza options are very creative (you can get a deconstructed chili dog pizza - if you're into that). There are plenty of beer styles. Unfortunately, none really stood out except for the Gose. Overall, good pizza with Lynn just better than average beer with an outstanding atmosphere.
A hidden gem (at least for this out of towner)! They have a rotating selection of beer that I brewed in house. But the pizza and food is what drew me in. Definitely a stop on my Grand Rapids tour.
I have lived in GR for almost 2 years now. Upon moving, I attempted to try every brewery and I absolutely love The Mitten! It has my favorite pizza in the city and my favorite beer the No No DIPA. I always bring visiting friends and family for a beer at Founders, then here for a second drink and dinner.
I really enjoy coming here! I think it's a great spot in Beer City, USA and worth multiple visits. Their food is excellent and their staff is always friendly and accommodating!
Pizza sampler is a great option to sample all of the great combinations the Mitten has to offer. They have expanded their beer offerings and the ciders are very nice. Sit at the bar and learn a lot from the bartenders. You can also avoid the wait if you can find a spot at the bar.
Love the cheesy bread! Pizza has always been awesome and my favorite is the BBQ Chipolte Chicken Pizza. Also I enjoy the Ciders and the fact that they are switched so often keeps me coming back to check out what next one is on tap. Love this place.
