Turning on the news drains our spirits and leaves us feeling angry, defeated, divided and as if we're unable to affect change. The broader impact is that we're a country – and a world – divided. It's this "us vs. them" mentality that makes catastrophe seem almost inevitable. Almost.We believe that we all have the power to change the world around us for the better, simply by sparking compassion. What better way to trigger that spark and break down social silos than through art? That's where The Metta Project comes in.The Metta Project is a social change initiative, working with individuals across the globe to identify ways they can use art and storytelling to break down the social silos in their own community while bringing kindness and compassion to life. Art is a powerful tool that reaches inside a person, disrupts the status quo and introduces new ideas in a compelling way. Using art to invite compassion and kindness in the face of such negativity just feels natural. Because when we love all our neighbors as ourselves, we don't pass laws against them. We don't gun them down in school. We help. We support. We grow.
