This weekend at The Martha was splendid! My annual visit to celebrate my friend's birthday is approaching a decade at The Martha. I love the hot tub, the salt water pool, Sisters and bartender, Suzanne, who makes fantastic martinis. Our servers, Evan, Josh, and Morgan made dining a pleasure. The porter is kind and gracious. I cannot rate it highly enough! Thanks to all of them.
Beautifully appointed, gracious service, wonderful breakfast and right across the street from the historic Barter Theatre. Three couples went for a couple of days and loved every minute of it.
The Martha Washington Inn and Spa was remarkable in every sense of the word. The incredible atmosphere and very accommodating staff at this beautiful historic hotel made my trip quite memorable, relaxing, and rejuvenating in the lovely city of Abingdon, VA. The inn was a perfect combination of charming artifacts from the past and modern amenities I appreciate while traveling. I look forward to returning in the future.
Always lovely antiques with top-notch service and food! Love the history behind The Martha, and the pictures throughout the hallways. We have enjoyed massages at the spa as well as performances at The Barter Theatre. The Martha is always a favorite!
The atmosphere at The Martha is rich with history and rife with class. The staff is friendly and professional. There is a excellent port wine served in complimentary glasses from 8-11. The restaurant within it has amazing food which you can order and pick up or sit down and eat in the comfortable dining area. There is an indoor salt water pool and a hot tub with a beautiful view. These are just some of the amenities offered at The Martha. I recommend you stop by and see for yourself.
The hotel is very quaint and historic. The lobby floor even squeaks like it's 200 years old. The king room was very comfortable with antique furniture. The bed was very comfortable. I'll say that even though I'm about to say some bad things, I still would stay here again. The bathroom and shower were in bad shape. Some mold and cracks in the shower floor. All the fixtures are in need of replacement. Every single one of the staff we encountered were fantastic. Very nice and informative.
We attended a wedding at The Martha and it was stunning. It was beautiful and the staff were amazing. The valet, Jake, even saved my friend's mother from falling down the stairs. Absolutely wonderful people and venue.
Very nice accommodations in a very historic inn and location. Dining at the Sisters was very nice with very good food and excellent staff. My only minor issues: 1) that it is 2017 and for those downtime hours the internet service was bad and the in-room cable (circa 2000) was bad. They had flat panel TVs but with a very poor analog signal, 2) if you want to utilize the massage services book in advance. That would be something that the reservation staff could add to their script as a reminder.
My husband and I have celebrated my last two birthdays at the Martha Washington Spa. Each year we are completely satisfied and can NOT wait for the next year. Try the couples massage! We had a full room designated for our hour long massage and then an hour in their amazing soaking tubs. The big surprise was the cheesecake and bottle of champagne. The massage therapists are fantastic at what they do! The hot tub and pool are a great place to hang out before or after the massage as well. Definitely recommend their services as well as their restaurant. Love Love Love!!! We will be back next year!!!!!
The historical aspect was interesting but it took 3 hours to get dinner and the shrimp and scallop dish was so salty that I had to send it back and they brought me something else instead. The waitress was nice about it but don't the cooks check to make sure that the seasoning is correct before sending it out.
