For me a best coffee place, I discovered until now in Lawrence. It is the best place to study, read your favorite books or maybe newspaper and listen some good music while enjoying every sip of your latte or cappuccino (that's because most of the times I ordered a hot drink). Also, u can try various cold drinks they offer, they are pretty good. The overall ambiance is kinda cool.

Music was overly loud, the coffee was just okay, and not the most welcome atmosphere. Wouldn't recommend - there are better coffee shops elsewhere

Need more help had to wait for like 45min to get my sandwiches. Think it's over price. Nice little place on the inside but will not come back. Came all the way for Oklahoma to eat here.

Most of the time I've been to Java Break, was out of necessity (because it's the only place downtown open after 2:00 am). I found it more charming when I was an undergrad, but since then have found it less so. What I take issue with most is the wi-fi access/time that's based on how much you spend in their shop. There's usually plenty of space, so it seems pretty cheap to enact a measure like that, especially in 2018.
BUT I also understand that sometimes it's handy to go to a space with caffeine that's open 24/7.
They serve some of my least favorite espresso drinks here.

The best coffee place I've ever been to. I haven't once had a bad experience. Been more than handful of times. Other guy had dreads and this recent visit a lovely gal who had 50's vibe. The coffee is to die for and the topping is house made, that chocolate kind it the best! The atmosphere is phenomenal. Simple but if those walls could talk!!! Wait some walls do have writings.

I go here all the time with my friends. I like the coffee and it has a cool atmosphere. I recommend the iced raspberry torte drink!

Great local coffee shop. People working there are nice. Open 24hrs. You have to buy coffee to get wifi access though.

Some of the drinks are good but the staff is rude sometimes. Don't take too much time figuring out what you want to order, they will get mad. If you want two drinks, let them make the first one before you tell them about the second one. They will get overwhelmed if they get an order for two drinks and give you a passive aggressive lecturing about how you need to wait for the first drink to be made before you can tell them about the second one.

A great local place right in downtown Lawrence. Great staff, entertaining interiors and excellent coffee. Try the legendary Lawrence steamer. Recently again visited this place while in the area. I think it’s even gotten better. Staff is more eclectic as ever. And the service is fantastic

The concept is really cool--24 hour retro coffee shop with a cereal bar! They have great coffee options with pastries (our favorite was a banana bread chocolate chip scone) and a cereal bar where you can choose up to three cereals from a list of 24 or so types as well as choosing your own milk and putting on toppings from almonds to butterscotch chips. They have a free speech room where you can express yourself through writing or drawing on the walls. The wall hangings in the back room are of everyday items that have faces. There are also games to play for a fun day/evening/all-nighter trip there. Great fun. Would definitely recommend.

Not just for the college crowd. I'm 60+ and have always received very friendly service no matter what time of day I've been here. Very relaxing cozy getaway.

Been studying here for years. Open all night. Good drinks. Really friendly, helpful staff. Quirky, lowkey interior. Typically good music on the playlists.

I have been in Lawrence for about seven years now and I have to say, I love this little coffee shop. The peanut butter cookies are unforgettable and the coffee is delicious! The staff is efficient and helpful, not to mention it is an excellent place to study! I can't tell you how many nights the cereal bar kept me going through a homework assignment. Gotta check it out people

I was once accosted by who I assume is the owner while I was standing outside on the sidewalk next to Java Break. He banned me and my friends from the business for "a year" because we were talking on the sidewalk and he didn't like that. We didn't block the stairs into the business in any way, the owner has a chip on his shoulder and likes to take it out on others. I know I'm not the only person who has dealt with rudeness from the owner who will also threaten to kick you out if you place your things in a seat before ordering.

Cozy place and a friendly staff. Excellent spot to get some work done, or play board games with a group of friends. Also you have the chance to win free drinks before every purchase

My favorite Lawrence coffee shop. Infinitely charming. Best shot-in-the-dark (they call it a Lawrence Slammer) anywhere.

Dive coffee shop. Neat environment with a bunch of writing on the walls and some interesting college house-like seating. Study spot for college students. Sub par coffee.
If the coffee were any better I'd be more inclined to send people this direction but it's consistent.
Conclusion: this place is neat for undergrads to go study at but otherwise the sub par coffee and cereal offer little appetite for the rest of us.

You enter downstairs which makes it hard if you have a stroller or a wheelchair.. I ordered a chai, which was homemade but tasted mostly like strong tea and milk. I know that's the traditional way, but I was hoping for a little more of the spicy notes to come through. There were quite a few sweet drink options.
