I wanted to take a moment to express my great appreciation to David Techner and the rest of his staff at Ira Kaufman’s Chapel. When my stepfather passed away in Arizona some years ago, we had no idea what to do or where to start the process of getting him back to Detroit. It just took one call to David and everything else fell in to place. David was extremely diplomatic, sensitive and understanding. He helped guide us through the process of writing the obituary, connecting us with hospice and helping us make decisions without offending or leaving anyone out. There’s a certain level of tact that is required when a family has children, stepchildren, children through marriage and so on. David was able to create a positive environment that allowed everyone to grieve without the unfortunate family differences that often come out in these dark times.
    Thank you, Mike Sher

We have dealt with the Ira Kaufman Chapel for more than 50 years that I can recall; cannot recall a single negative experience. They have all acted in a considerate and helpful manner.

I've called Ira Kaufman funeral home on numerous occasions and have never had a satisfactory experience. The treatment varied from downright rude to rushed to indifferent. Considering the nature of their business I find this surprising. On one occasion, as a member of the grieving family I was standing, trying to get David Techner's attention while he was idly chit chatting with somebody whom I did not recognize, and was never ever to get his attention. I finally walked away. It took over five phone calls to correct the erroneous date on my mother's tombstone, some of them quite unpleasant. I was ridiculed because although I knew the location of the cemetery I was not able to pronounce the Hebrew name. Often I cannot finish a sentence before being interrupted and transferred, only to be transferred again when speaking to the next person. If I get around to planning my funeral in advance I will be sure to plan it at another funeral home.
