We had a wonderful experience at the Inn at Torch Lake! My husband and I stayed here for one night during the winter and thoroughly enjoyed our get away.
The Inn is absolutely beautiful and Harvey has gone above and beyond with making sure his guests have everything they might want or need. Harvey was a very gracious host who gave us plenty of space and privacy but was always nearby if we needed anything. He can give great advice for the area if desired. He pointed us to a beautiful nature center nearby where we were able to hike some beautiful snow covered trails.
On our way out Harvey gave us a gift for or soon to arrive baby girl. What a sweet gesture. Can't recommend enough.

The Inn is probably the nicest "hotel" I've ever stayed in. It is spotless, cozy, and posh. Harvey is an excellent innkeeper and even without his breakfasts makes the stay unbelievable. I hate to give away the best kept secret in NW Michigan but Harvey's is where it's at. This morning we had an egg scramble casserole with bacon and potatoes and a huge fruit salad. Merlin the dog is the mascot and is a fun addition. Every stay is a true vacation and seems like Christmas. Don't miss this spot!

Wow! Great experience at the Inn at Torch Lake. We spent two lovely days in the Torch Lake Room at the end of our 20th Anniversary Adventure. My husband and I are from Southern California and this was our first trip to the Great Lakes area. I found the Inn at Torch Lake by reading various reviews on-line and thought they must all be too good to be true - but indeed this place is everything everyone says it is. The owner, Harvey, and his little dog Merlin are the best hosts! It felt like we were staying with family. The room was awesome, the bed was VERY comfortable, and the room was spotless. We will be back for sure!! Thank you to the Inn at Torch Lake for making the end of our journey as memorable as the beginning!

My husband and I have made this our annual anniversary location. Harvey is wonderful and the breakfasts are AMAZING! Harvey makes you feel like you are at home. The rooms are beautifully decorated and welcoming. We have been to 5 star hotels and The Inn At Torch Lake beats them all hands down! Thank you Harvey! See you next year!

Second time at this beautiful Inn. We spent our 24th Anniversary in the Torch Lake Room. It was so romantic and cozy we found it hard to leave the room, even with Torch Lake a short stroll away. Harvey is a wonderful chef so we also had a delicious breakfast every morning. If you haven't been here yet then you are missing out. Thank you Harvey and Merlin we'll see you next year.

Best part of our vacation! We came with our daughter, who turned 12 at the Inn. We had the only room with two beds which was gorgeous and super spacious! A huge closet, jet tub and shower and big t.v, along with a mini fridge, and sink kitchenette. Breakfasts were awesome, best meals on vacation. Even our daughter who doesn't normally eat eggs loved the quiche, her favorite was the cinnamon roll! Fresh fruit each day along with the meal. The stuffed french toast was so yummy I'm craving it already! The breakfast was served in a cute little nook, not your normal bed in breakfast.it was amazing! You could choose to have it in your room as well, we just loved being in the nice sunny room at the quaint little tables.
Best part was Harvey's hospitality, he was always making sure we had everything we needed. And his dog was super sweet just a nice added touch. He even left a little present for our daughter, it made her feel so special. It was like he was a mind reader, he knew great places to recommend, left a little treat on the nightstand, and even offered a glass of wine when we first got in after a long drive.
Totally gives bed and breakfast a great name, and has a great location near Torch Lake. I would recommend highly!

We stayed at the Inn with Harvey (and Merlin) just after New Year's and had an absolute blast. The rooms were quality, warm, and had a nice ambiance with a gas fireplace. Harvey was very accommodating, pleasant, and knowledgeable about the area. He's definitely a fixture of Alden. We'll be back!

UPDATE: We have since stayed AGAIN with Harvey at the Inn at Torch Lake and it was yet again a wonderful experience. I would rate this five stars again if I could, but I can't place another review. Harvey is far and away the best innkeeper and his inn is absolutely immaculate. His breakfast is wonderful, and he and Merlin are such great company.

I'd rate this six stars if it was possible!

If you are looking for a quaint get-away, whether it be for a family vacation or romantic trip, look no further. Harvey, the Innkeeper at the Torch Lake Inn, will make sure your trip is everything you want it to be. My husband and I spent a few nights at the Torch Lake Inn for our honeymoon. Before heading to Torch Lake, we spent some time at a high-end resort in Petoskey. It was a breath of fresh air when we arrived at Harvey’s Inn. Alden allowed us to enjoy all that Northern Michigan had to offer without all the “busyness”. The rooms were IMMACULATE and the breakfasts that Harvey prepares are to die for! Harvey was so accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to ensure we were content. The Inn was just a short walk to the lake. There are a few swimming areas, otherwise you can drive to the sandbar or rent a boat for a ½ or full day. There is also a small shop near the water where you can rent kayaks. One day there was a farmers market on the street with live music. Harvey was lending out his chairs to allow guests to enjoy the entertainment. There are only a few shops and places to eat in Alden (Alden Bar & Dockside were good options) however Bellaire was only a short drive away. Perhaps my favorite part of staying at the Inn was Harvey’s sweet dog, Merlin. We’ve stayed at some other Bed and Breakfasts in the past, but this was our favorite. We are already planning our next trip!

Dream Vacation - Dream Bed and Breakfast!!! Harvey (the inn keeper) thinks of everything to make your stay amazing and goes out of his way to make you happy. The rooms are beautiful, functional, and CLEAN! Harvey makes wonderful breakfast for all guests! The inn is very close to torch lake and nearby shops/restaurants. It is close to Traverse City but far enough away for a cozy vacation. This B&B is worth every penny! HIGHLY RECOMMEND staying here!!! Even if you feel uneasy about a B&B, don't, you will love this place!
