We got there by chance looking for a girl bulldog or pitbull. We fell in love with all of the animals but Rufus took our heart. This is a great friendly no kill shelter. Their people are helpful and made our experience easy and enjoyable. If we adopt again this will be the place we will do it from.

I have submitted application after application and called and called. I am a middle-aged woman married to a middle-aged man for 30+ years. No children so our dogs are our life. We have two other dogs. We have a fenced-in back yard with a doggy door. Same vet for 26 years. All dogs have died of old age. You can't find a better set of dog parents. They treat us like villains trying to kidnap their dogs. We went to the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Show and asked to hold one dog, I turned to show my husband and the man grabbed me by the arm and said "Don't try to leave"
They are taking this too far. How does one actually get a dog! Plus they never answer their phone!

This facility provides the most outstanding rescue program I've seen! The folks who work there (volunteer and paid personnel) are dedicated to giving the animals a better life - and of course, enriching our lives. Please visit, donate items or cash, and help with placement of some beautiful animals. YOU will be the one getting the favor.

I love the Haven and support their efforts fully however, if you advertise your hours online and post them on your door, it would be great for you to be open durring those hours. Drove to the facility at normal business hours and they were closed. Very frustrating. No sign on the door or anything saying when or if they would be back today.
