WelcomeThe mission of The German Home (TGH), established by The German Ruth Society in 1902, is to provide a supervised, supportive and protective living environment for 31 ambulatory residents with mental health issues who cannot live alone, yet do not require skilled nursing services on a routine basis. Mental health issues and poverty are two of the most significant challenges faced by the residents.TGH received its non-profit status in 1963.The Facility The German Home Board of Directors comprises 5 volunteer members drawn from the local community. Some have family members resident in The German Home. The Board meets every other month at the facility in Lawrence. TGH operates on a fiscal year basis January 1- December 31. TGH funding is dependent on The Mass Health Program (95%) and other sources (5%), as well as occasional grant support and private contributions. The average age of the resident is 60. Residents of TGH receive $72.80 per month for their personal needs. TGH is an economic engine which contributes approximately $1,000,000 into the economic health of Lawrence, specifically Prospect Hill. TGH serves as an anchor to its' neighborhood, houses 31 people and employees 26 people in full and part time positions, in Lawrence. The German Home meets the needs of these citizens and enables them to lead dignified and independent lives in a caring environment. The German Home is located at 374 Howard Street in Lawrence in the building that formerly housed the Children's Home of the Lawrence General Hospital.Services Coordination of medical care for the residents Nursing, pharmacy, dietary and social service consultation 24-hour a day oversight for assistance, first aid and emergencies Medication administration & maintenance of a medical record 3 meals and 3 snacks a day Personal care as needed 5+ day a week activity program Housekeeping and laundry services All services provided at a specific single daily rate
