We booked (and paid for) two rooms with queen size beds. We got doubles. When we inquired, we were told it's a "New York" queen. That's ridiculous! The clerk was very rude despite us being very nice. The hotel was OK. Party of 4. We won't stay here again.
The food and drinks were very good. We are very grateful that they could accommodate our party of 15 people for my birthday party, which is very hard to do in NYC for a party that size. They were also able to accommodate for celiac (gluten allergy) and their bread is gluten free and amazing. I would definitely recommend.
Excellent location next to central park. Nice and quiet hotel. Staff helpful. Special thanks to housekeeping staff and Hotel Manager Ivan. Looking forward to visit again.
Large room and clean toilet. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Staff are friendly. The location is great.
Outdated, rooms are small, overpriced. All of these things i can deal with BUT! When eating the breakfast a RAT ran past me, in the open with no fear. Disgusting to say the least, i dont trust this hotel and whatever sanitary standard they keep.
Calle Ocho is a fantastic brunch spot. Delicious food, great sangria, fair prices, nice decor. Make sure you make a reservation in advance or get there right as it opens for a spot at the bar, they fill up quick!
They had great service, early check in, held bags after check out tell time to go to airport. The view of from are room was the best my fiance and I had to pull each other away from the window. When I came back to the N.Y. I'm definitely staying at the Excelsior.
Loved them! They are so friendly! We left another hotel and booked this through Travelocity immediately so the reservation wasn't updated on their computer yet but we had tickets to the game and in a hurry so they told us not to worry that they would get us checked in when we got back and took our luggage for hold so we could make it to the game on time. They gave us a free breakfast card. The room was very nice. The AC worked great! The hotel was a block from the subway which was great! The bellhop (luggage) was super friendly. I was so happy that we changed hotels. The location was next to the natural history museum. Central Park was was right there & so many shops & places to eat. I am very happy and will use them again.
We enjoyed our visit the night before Thanksgiving, to get a close view of the inflating of many of the float balloons for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, right outside.
We had brunch at Calle Ocho. Staff was incredible as were the food and drinks. Definitely recommend this for brunch to others. I made reservations for a larger group one month in advance with no problem.
Come here about once a month than for brunch and it is NEVER a disappointment!!! If you've never been here, then what are you doing with your life? Unlimited sangria (13 flavors) and amazing food.
The location is great. The hotel is OK nothing to write home about. It's right across the street from the Natural History Museum and a lot of great eateries. There is something wrong with the heaters though because it made an awfully loud noise throughout the night. I'm not a light sleeper so it didn't bother me that much but I can see someone really being irritated by it. It was like having construction work right outside your window.
Love the location. Lived around the corner for many years before moving out of the city, so it is nice to come home. However the hotel could use some updating. Rooms are small, which is fine but need some TLC. But that said it is still a good place to stay, just don't expect modern rooms or perfection.
