Pros -
* Clear parking directions. I returned a rental car and finding the return parking was not difficult.
* Male restrooms are clean and usable.
Cons-
* There is no sign that says where to the return the rental key. Usually, in airports, there is a box where you can drop them or there is a sign that tells you to return it to the Hertz booth inside the airport.
* Not enough monitors showing what gate to go to. Monitors are not clearly visible from the hallway because they are not there. They are mounted close to the windows. So, to see the arrivals and departure, you'd have to go close to the windows. That is a bad design.
* The security check passage is poorly designed. Not enough room for people to stay in a line when it takes TSA folks to go through the bag checks and what not.
* When I walked in to the airport, I did not see any kiosk or airline booth to print my boarding pass. Glad I printed it at home.
* Not good food selection. There is a bar that was open at 8am, well, that is not so bad lol ;)
Awful customer service. When flights are delayed the attendant did not feel it was necessary to notify anyone. When she was finally asked by enough of the passengers, she very rudely and sarcastically announced she had no idea what was going on. If you fly this airport, do not expect the employees to be informed or decent people.
Access, parking, check-in, TSA, and food choices are great. The in-bound ground operations are terrible. I wait on the plane "just a few feet short of the gate" over half of the flights to the airport. CID has poorer ground operation than bigger and smaller airports. Landing at CID on time doesn't mean you will get off the plane on-time.
Small and the security is easy but that's all. Every flight is late. They don't have staff to service more than one plane at a time. Airport is right out of the 80s and there are few amenities. Try Des Moines or any other place if at all possible.
Outstanding, small airport. Security was a very fast, efficient process. This was the first airport where the security was actually nice and held a conversation with me. All employees in general were very kind. I would definitely fly in here again.
Special shout out to Alice, Eric, &Joe. I initially thought I’d lost my driver’s license and they were extremely warm and kind to me as they pulled me aside and did some extra security protocols and assured I’d still be able to make my flight. They ultimately found my driver’s license in my bag during the search too. Very thorough, organized, warm airport employees. Pat down was also very respectful.
It's a great little airport, very accessible for both Iowa City and Cedar Rapids. It's under a major upgrade and sections that are finished look very modern and awesome. Decent car rental options. TSA staff were really polite too. Looking forward to seeing the upgrades completed.
Love this little quiet place! Staff is very friendly, place is clean.
The parking is not bad at all, and the staff all seem very friendly. Overall, I had no issues with this Airport every time I've been here.
Horrible experience at this crappy place. I had to wait over 10+ hours for a delayed flight because the plane was broken. The Flight Attendants were rude and didn't give a damn about your flight time. Stupid Iowans think they got all the time in the world. They also assured me they called a mechanic, and that mechanic never came, and I kept on asking every 2 hours or so and they told me that the mechanic was coming and started to get more rude as time progressed. Eventually at the end of the day they said, oh it'll be ready in the morning tomorrow. Like seriously, what the heck? They should have told me that earlier so I could have gone home and relaxed. Plus the food here sucks. Honestly, the only thing that might be considerably good about this airport is its vending machines. I recommend taking the Greyhound to O'Hare over this crummy place.
Clean and good flight options. Not very many food options
This is a great little airport. Friendly TSA agents, quick lines, only one shop but it has lots of options
Airport is easy to navigatestill a bit pricey when flying compared to some airports in the region.
Flew in recently to visit relatives. Nice folks comfortable experience. With president Trump in charge of all things federal complainers should see many upgrades and improvements soon.
Annoying woman offering help with the Self Check-in kiosk. I had to tell her 3 times that I didn't want her help because she was coughing and hacking all over. She also kept taking people from the much shorter line and putting them at the end of the longer line for some unexplained reason. No separate lines for people checking in vs people changing thier tickets/checking on delays equals a very long line especially when there are only 3 ticket agents.
Never fly into or out of Cedar Rapids, unless you plan being delayed for 12 hour or more.
WORST. AIRPORT. EVER.
The TSA was one of the worst that I have encountered. They escalate situations instead of de- escalating situations. Puffed up pride with no compassion to those flying. Your african american staff was the worst. I am a Black American. Being on their cell phone's while helping customers is not appropriate, this was at your customer service counter. The Black TSA had no people skills. She wanted to call her supervisor when I asked a simple question about being detained for so long and I didn't have a thing on me. Each person that came through was detained longer because your scanners were not working properly. Since CID has expanded their flight schedule maybe your staff can undergo customer service training. I rate your service from start to finish a 1.
Nice airport. Small and easy to get in. No TSA pre check and need more electrical outlets
Alright, CID, I'm upping you one star - it appears you've improved your wifi offerings and speed compared to the last time I was here (in which the wifi was reminiscent of dial up). I also am adding this fourth star for the spicy pickle slices that can be purchased in the C Terminal. Worth the $2.99 - in case you're on the fence/looking for a unique snack.

As a big time city boy (original from Seattle), this airport rocks! It is peaceful, roomy, parking is easy and always available, things are labeled well, staff is nice enough, security lines are always short, and planes almost always are on time. I love having this as my main airport.
