Legacy is a mentoring and cultural immersion program with the purpose of opening the scope of young adults living in "at-risk" communities.We want to provide young adults with the opportunity to see a world outside of their own. To help them understand the importance of learning about other cultures and people that seem different from them. Also, create a space and community for them to express how these similarities and/or differences make them feel.All interested participants are to create a short film about themselves or a social issue affecting their community, in the most artistic way they see fit. We were inspired by the 90's television show, A Different World's artistic and comedic yet educational approach to social issues. The show introduced us to concepts and issues that we otherwise would have never known. We want our participants to share their experiences in a way that will hopefully introduce the people in their spheres of life to new perspectives and appreciation the way A Different World did for us.
