Description

The Colonel Mustard is a house. A two-story, mustard-colored Victorian built by a crotchety old Nebraska historian named Albert Watkins. Built in 1887, the house is the eleventh oldest house in Lincoln, Nebraska. It serves as the headquarters for the nonprofit, and occasionally it serves as a stage, storage area, and recording studio, as well. A variety of people involved with the Mustard's productions have lived in the house since 2007.

The Colonel Mustard is also a community of friends who strive to love wholeheartedly and live creatively. In addition to our productions, we enjoy hosting potlucks and other celebrations of friendship at the Mustard. We also like raptors, but not in the kitchen.

Throughout the months and weeks leading up to large-scale Mustard productions, you will no doubt find any number of Mustardians building large set pieces, painting unique props, fashioning colorful masks, acting out scenes, or sharing a meal. The Mustard operates on donations of time, talents, and money -- and Mustard shows are always presented free to the public.

We've discovered that the thrill of community theater is about more than just putting on shows--it's about the magic and wonder of doing much with little. This meager offering has taken on a life of its own as more and more people get excited about being involved in each new production.

These projects stem from a joyful community of art. Much more than just performances, the Mustard hosts potlucks, themed parties, and has become a haven for creative expression and community. Our mission is to do things just because they're awesome.
