I went to this establishment after being referred by a lady who grew up in Morgantown. However, she had given me their previous address in the Seneca Center. I had no problem using her referral as I trust her judgement. I'm assuming business has changed since they have moved to the Burroughs. I went in with a smile on a Friday and even pet the dog that roams the show room. I gave the lady (I'm assuming the owner based off her attitude) 2 pair of boots to see if they were repairable and the cost to have them fixed. She told me one pair of the boots were fixable with hot glue and an estimated fee of $20. The other she said no problem but with a little extra work so an estimate of $25. I went with the second pair to be repaired and figured I could hot glue my own shoes for way less. After being rushed out of the store because she was receiving phone calls from people asking about prom dresses that needed to be finished by the following day and customers asking if their items had been repaired or altered. She seemed overwhelmed, however a business owner should be aware that customer service is #1. She did not give me any sort of estimate of how long it'd take, as I was in no hurry. Based off the rush of people, I assumed at least a week for my repairs. The following week, my phone carrier AT&T had been experiencing difficulties so my voicemail was un-acknowledgeably not working. I received 2 phone calls over the course of 4 days (Monday and Thursday) before I called the unknown number back after the second missed call. On the phone, the same woman was extremely rude and told me I needed to come get my boots asap. I immediately went to the store and the first thing the lady says to me is, "I sent you a postcard in the mail this morning, please disregard my message." I asked her what the message said and she went on to tell me that some customers have complained that she is too "pointed" aka another word for bitch. She did fix my boots, and then proceeded to tell me it would be a bit more expensive because of the extra work she put into them. I was not informed of this and/or given the option to decline the additional work and costs. I honestly would have not had any sort of problem paying the extra, however her attitude and "pointed" postcard were more than I was willing to deal with. I am happy to have my boots fixed, however that woman is just not pleasant whatsoever. I work in customer service and I know that if you're going to be rude to your customers, you will receive bad feedback and reviews. In a small town such as Morgantown, word travels fast. I was later told that Tanners Alley would have been the best way to go and would have paid more than half less for my repairs. I will not be going back.
I went here hoping to get my shoes repaired. I was told that they would be done within 2 weeks max, but did not get them back until over a month later. I had to call numerous times in order to check the status of my shoes, every time they told me that my shoes were "about to be worked on". Extremely poor service and over priced. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
Any positive review you found on these guys is probably written by someone who works in the store.... I wasted my time with these people on one occasion and never plan to go back... What a disaster this place is!!! Hard to believe they are still in business
