The place to be in the ski valley for good coffee, apple pie...wow! And good beer.
Great German beers at a great location. I wish they could allow well behaved dogs on patio, but there are still plenty of places around the outside to sit and eat that are not part of the restaurant.
The Bavarian, the name suggest a culture rich experience. Not the fact, truth be told this has been one of the most miserable experience's I've had at a restaurant to data. With 12 plus tables open, and only one party of 8. We had to wait 30 minutes to be told that thay were to buys to serve us. On top of that, the waiter called my women friend a Mr. When I brought our experience to the attention of the manger. I was told, " sir we refuse to right to serve" clearly she had no word to cover for shuch poor service. My review, not worth the long drive.
If you have ever traveled through Southern Germany and stopped in an Alpine Lodge or Gasthaus and enjoyed yourself then you have to check this place out.
It is the most authentic place I have found in the states.
It is located about half way up the mountain to Wheeler peak( highest point in NM).
We met Jamie Schulze ,the wife of the man with whom together started the place, he is apparently from Bavaria and knew what he was doing when he designed this place.
We went in late August and just like Bavaria the weather on the mountain turned bad quickly. Hailing ice cold etc.
After a few minutes all the hikers were huddled in the place on long benches and tables swapping stories.
I swear it was just like being back in Berchtesgaden.
The food is 100% authentic ( we can argue later about the pairings),and they have great Hoffbrau beer.
It was an amazing place. Jamie also showed us the rooms upstairs that are awesome and designed like
A typisch Alps Gasthouse except they have private bathrooms.
Shannon, the manager did an amazing job of following up with us and making us feel at home also.
Great food, great people, great atmosphere, great beer, great location, what's left?
We are going to spend New Years there for sure.
Had an amazing beer and pretzel after a hike up Wheeler Peak! Been here multiple times and I have never been disappointed!
Had a great time the people who work there are always so nice. We'll definitely go back!
Took a leisurely scenic ride to the top of Taos Ski Area to eat at this charming Bavarian restaurant. Food was great. Service was excellent. Beer was tasty. I'm sure in better weather the view was fabulous. It's a long drive from Albuquerque but if you like weinerschnitzel and have the time, this is the place for you. Of course if it's winter and you're skiing....
Awesome place after a summer hike. Great German food and Beer.
Very interesting and european style! A beautiful and cozy cabin..a must if you are at the Taos ski basin!
The service is horrible in the restaurant. We went for a bite to eat before we take the chairlift, and the waitress was RUDE! I have never had such horrible service. Our order was not even complete, but they sure charged us for everything they never brought to us. When we asked for a drink refill, you would of through that it was coming out of the waitresses paycheck the way she scoffed about it. Jamie, whom I believe is the hostess, was the only real nice person that was working there, if it was not for her, we would of just up and left, with no regard! There are plenty of other great places to dine, do not waste your time or money on this place.
The service was great, beer was delicious, and scenery was breathtaking. Will definitely visit again!
This is a great dining option at Taos. For dining at a ski area it is reasonably priced for high quality, authentic, bavarian food. The Pretzels, the Goulash, and the spaetzle are all great. Basking in the sun on the deck, with a stein of beer is a fantastic way to take a lunch between showing off under the lift.
